oh..i did not know...is there a 5.1.1 bkernel out for fq ..?My device is G925FQ , sold in Turkey.
Will this work ?
If not, what can I try ?
thanks.
than look in cfauto root threadThank you. Actually I am not sure because I didn't receive the phone yet. I will get in 2-3 hours.
What if G925FQ doesn't have 5.1.1 firmware ? how should I root ?
5.0.2 is not good..massive problems everywhere ..so update..also if you have no way to root..i don't know if there's a custom kernel out for your model or if you can take the normal f version..no matter what you try download your firmware so you can flash it again if you have problems..ok. now I have the phone. It has 5.02 on it.
But there is an update and it says 5.1.1
Now;
1. should I upgrade to 5.1.1 before I try root ?
2. if I try root on 5.0.2 which method should I try ?
3. if I try root on 5.1.1 which method ?
4. if I root with 5.0.2 , can I upgrade to 5.1.1 ? How ?
Thanks.
yes for upgrade..no for root it before..as you can upgrade direct without problems..if you can not find your firmware ..don't root..as if there are problems you have semi bricked...try download kies..it will tell you that it's not supported.. but you can download your firmware...thank you.
so you suggest me to upgrade.
But shall I root before upgrade or shall I try to root after upgrade ?
And where can I find my firmware ? On Sammobile I can't find G925FQ firmware.
the only way for root on 5.1.1 is the twrp way i think..anyone can correct me if I'm wrong..you know you will trip Knox to 0x1 if you root...?!?ok. so you suggest;
upgrade directly to 5.1.1 without root then try to root
but which method should I try ?
(and you also suggest finding my rom)
OK..but i don't know..it's a strange model i only knows f t or w and such but 2 letters..that's why i want that you have your firmware downloaded to get the phone working again if there's a problem..look in a unified kernel thread if a kernel works for your model..if not you can only simple try..but for sure i don't know if it worksI know about know trip but that's not an issue for me.
I was using my S5 the same way.
but for twrp which file should I use ? since my device is g925fq ...
in kies for example...ok. is there a way to get my firmware other than sammobile ?
if you flash your firmware..recovery is one of the things..not at home ATM..but there is a option to check for updates with this you can download it..between 2 - 3 gbis there an option to download my firmware on Kies ?
where ?
Btw, if I change recovery to TWRP, how can I flash back my original recovery ?
Ok. I've downloaded my firmware now. It is a file named G925FXXU2BOGBOJT2BOG8G925FXXU2BOGEG925FXXU2BOGBif you flash your firmware..recovery is one of the things..not at home ATM..but there is a option to check for updates with this you can download it..between 2 - 3 gb
Not sure why you want the original recovery after all..you can extract it from firmware..rename the .tar.md5 to .tar ..now you can extract it..take the recovery and make a new flashable tar with the all in one tool from original development thread..Ok. I've downloaded my firmware now. It is a file named G925FXXU2BOGBOJT2BOG8G925FXXU2BOGEG925FXXU2BOGB
what extension should I add to it to see the contents ?
Next, I will try to flash TWRP and then root.
But after root I want to go back to original recovery.
Can I get my original recovery from this downloaded firmware?
And, how can I :
"make a backup from efs and store it on pc !!!!!"
Thx.
yes for the tool...mmhh i download my firmware from Sammobile or from Samdownloads...copy it to a other place (so you have still the original) and try to rename it by add a .tar..now look if you can open it..thanks but the file Kies has downloaded is :
G925FXXU2BOGBOJT2BOG8G925FXXU2BOGEG925FXXU2BOGB
it does not have a tar.md5 extension.
What can I do to see the recovery in it ?
