TWRP takes forever at the boot screen

anyone have this issue? it seems like every time i boot into twrp it hangs at the boot screen for longer and longer, sometimes as long as 10 minutes!

I'm seeing this too; taking forever. Used to be speedy on Marshmallow, but now it's taking forever after an update to Nougat... even though it's the same TWRP version! So strange. Anyone else?
