Tested on Z5 compact and phone goes in boot loop with Sony logo
To start, Turn off the phone, wait for 5 seconds, then hold down the power key and the volume down key as soon as the device starts on, release the keys and wait for the launch of the recovery, everything.
So you run a recovery?

It is for AOSP (from source) will this work for stock? You didn't mention this.
I loked into source, this is for E6653 and support 83. Will it work with E6603, E6633?

Recovery works regardless of firmware. The firmware can be any starting from MM.
On sonyxperiadev no source for E6603, E6633 and I don't guarantee the work on these devices. To say exactly works recovery or not, need to test.

Maybe I am too stupid, but I can't get into recovery. I'm on Z5 Prem, E6853.
I press both buttons, power an vol. down, then I release the powerbutton after it vibrates once. I keep holding vol. down, notification LED lights in purple for about a second, it vibrates a second time, the screen backlight turns on, screen stays black. After a few more seconds, the backlight turns off.
What can I do?

New and previous recovery You have won't start?
Most likely the kernel is not properly configured, I had similar on the Z5C.

the_brad, If you have a saved "TA" partition, then you can integrate my recovery with the built-in kernel using TA recovery. Integration will lose part of the functionality, the modules will not be copied and the decryption of the data will not work.
Start: after turning on the phone, press the volume increase button and as soon as the indicator lights up, immediately remove the finger from the button. At this point, the indicator will change color and start.

hi,
i tried your recovery on my z5 with lastest mm 32.2.A.5.11 & androplus kernel v42 &
it doesn't work.
after flashing i type fastboot reboot in cmd,
led turns blue (for tap2recovery), then orange (for volume button), then yellow (entering recovery) (this colors are from androplus twrp ),
then led turns into purple/vibrate and boot again.

@the_brad,
guck mal hier rein, falls du es noch brauchst ;)
das twrp fürs normale z5 sollte beim premium auch ohne probleme funktionieren
https://kernel.andro.plus/kitakami_r2.html
ich hab diese version drauf twrp-3.0.2-0-E6653-20160504.img
die findest du, wenn du auf der seite von androplus auf xperia z5 klickst

@AndroPlus,
can you help a bit

The Sony Flashtool has an option to flash the TWRP recovery and it worked.

It did not work from ADB but it did from the other Sony Flash tools.

thanks for your updates/reporting @johncool. i am sure this will help out other users.:good:

This is a full update about the progress. The goal was to install custom rom and to Root it and I managed to install Android 11 and root it with Magidsk.

The TWRP from this thread was not able to see my SD card. So I tried a few others until I found one that worked well.

There is one issue and it was that once I install the TWRP using the "Sony mobile flash tool by Androxyde" then the phone won't boot into the system anymore and have to install a custom ROM. Then After installing a Custom ROM I can't access the recovery anymore. So it is an either or situation.

This is good enough for my needs but I will try one more thing and that is to install a custom kernel to see if it will keep the TWRP recovery as well and I will update here.

I did get the phone to still have TWRP recovery even after flashing the ROM and without using a custom Kernel. There are several custom ROMs for this device. Some might work with it and some might not with this method. The rest will work but it will not keep the TWRP on the device.

In the below post you will find the steps and the links for the requirements using ADB platform.

These steps are for the Sony Xperia Z5 compact E5803.

This method will corrupt the system so you will need to have a custom ROM on the SD card for flashing or maybe you can do it with a zip stock ROM.

If a custom ROM does not work then in TWRP go to wipe and format data before trying the below suggestion.

To get the device to work with any custom ROM in the below post but without keeping the TWRP recovery. Then do the same below steps but skipping step number 6 and booting up phone normally. This needs to be done on stock ROM and recovery only.

The below details should work on Windows 7, 8.1, 10.Read the above post before continuing with this one.

Use Emma Sony flash tool to restore any bricked Sony Xperia device, all it requires is the program and the cable and internet connection. If it does not restore the phone to the same version of android that you had before then after restoring the phone with the Emma program then Use the "Sony mobile flash tool by Androxyde" program. This will require to download the Stock version of your device that you want and then flashing it.

Make sure to install the drivers for the Xperia Z5 compact before starting this process and make sure that you can access it.

    Emma flash tool link: https://developer.sony.com/develop/open-devices/get-started/flash-tool/download-flash-tool/

Sony mobile flash tool by Androxyde link: https://sonymobileflasher.com/

Unlocking bootloader is required for this to work, to unlock any Xperia booloader (It will delete all phone data) link: https://developer.sony.com/develop/open-devices/get-started/unlock-bootloader/

Custom ROM for Z5c link: https://theunlockr.com/roms/android-roms/sony-roms/sony-xperia-z5-compact-roms/

    Drivers for E5803 link: https://developer.sony.com/file/download/xperia-z5-compact-driver/

TWRP recovery that worked for me (The one from this thread was unable to detect my SD card) link (Only some of them work well from this link): https://www.dropbox.com/sh/lficbbcj7qbb1uc/AAAgvVuHaLxm6cbqi-21ue0Ca/Z5 Compact (Suzuran)?dl=0&subfolder_nav_tracking=1

To Root the custom recovery then use Magisk from the link (Read the details to do it correctly): https://magiskmanager.com/

    * If the phone won't turn back on then it might have overheated and just wait for it to cool down.
    * If the touch screen has dead zones, then connect a wired PC mouse to the OTG connection before turning it on. It will also work in TWRP recovery mode.

1- Copy the files from the TWRP recovery and paste them into the ADB tools folder.
2- Copy the custom ROM and place it on the SD card.
3- Open the ADB tools folder and type CMD in the folder address bar and press enter to open the ADB console.
4- Turn phone off then press on the volume up key and connect the phone with a micro USB connection until the notification light goes to blue.
    5-Enter the below command:
fastboot flash boot "Use same name as the copied TWRP".img
    6- Enter the below command:
fastboot flash recovery "Use same name as the copied TWRP".img
7- Then switch on you phone normally or press the volume down key and power it on. Either one will start the TWRP recovery.
8- Flash the new ROM from the SD card.
9- To root the device then refer to the link about rooting that is added in this post above.

    * There are 4 TWRP recoveries from the download link. At least 2 of them should work for this method. So try them until you find the one that works for you.

    * To force shut off the phone if it is stuck then press the volume up key with the power button for a short while.

The Flashed boot with the TWRP will be deleted after flashing the ROM and then the phone will work normally and TWRP recovery will start using the same methods that work on other Android devices.

If a custom ROM does not work then go to wipe in TWRP recovery and format data.
