USB-A to USB-C vs. USB-C to USB-C

Just a heads up to those purchasing QC 3.0 chargers...

I was working with Aukey customer service about a product I had bought a while ago that had a QC 3.0 USB-C port on it and it wouldn't fast charge with my Note 8. I had originally bought it for my Note 7.

They said the protocol for USB-C to C is different than the USB-A to C and the Note 8 doesn't support C to C.

This confused me since I thought QC 3.0 was QC 3.0 no matter what the wall adapter port was. Evidently I am wrong...

Did you do a benchmark on the actual charging times between the two?

Does it say on the notifications that it is fast charging?

I'm just wondering if what it reports for charging times may be incorrect when using QC 3.0.

I also noticed this conversation about it as well for the S8 which has the same SD chip: https://forums.androidcentral.com/s...s-use-qualcomms-quick-charge-3-0-4-0-a-6.html
I charged both for 10min the 2.0 charger and a 3.0 charger. Both only went up 12%. So that means the Note 8 does not support 3.0 QC. You can tell a big difference in the two it's day and night. My V20 had 3.0 QC and it is real fast. Like it charges about 50% in 15min. It's a big big difference. I don't even need to test it. If the Note 8 had 3.0 you could tell big time.

This right here!!

Been using these cables , powerline series ,for awhile. Almost indestructible, charge faster the stock cables and transfer better. 6 footers great , but 3 footers feel faster, must be 3.1 vs 3.0 . Can't go wrong with Anker.

I also love anker products. Had my astro e7 for over a year and it can still charge my note 8 6plus times

Sitting in training all week with no access to a wall outlet. 10 hour sessions and I leave with a full battery and the battery bank only down 1 notch ...with the phone plugged in.

Definitely quality products!

It's QC 2.0
hmmmmm
My 2.0 QC chargers won't charge it fast. I had to buy 3.0 to get fast charging to work

Whatever you guys do, stay away from RavPower. I tried their cables, it’ll make a electric/spark sound when you unplug from the phone. Even when you just plug in to to test fit.

So far Samsung, Apple, Google, and Anker does not make any noise whatsoever.

Oh My! Ty for the heads up! I was just looking at one of their smaller quick charge battery banks for my wife!

Well the battery banks work just fine. However, I highly recommend Anker over RavPower/Aukey. Cables work 100% and their battery banks don't make a buzz noise while using. It seems like RavPower/Aukey use the same supplies because both of their battery banks make a buzz noise while charging.

I have an Alley power bank and don't have any buzzing. I recently had an Anker one after 6 months started to swell and was the reason why I got an Aukey(was on sales).

I use both the stock Samsung Type-C charging and a 3rd party (X-Power) charging cable to charge my N950N. I really don't notice any difference in charging speed. Despite the fact that the X-Power brand is stated to have 3.1 USB specs and support for QC3 charging speeds.
