I had an amazon one and it made an annoying hissing noise the whole time with my aurisonic kickers. Switched to the apple usb to 3.5mm dongle and its crystal clear now. Also works again with my portable amp.

Theres a comparison showing the relative quality of all different dongles on headfi. The apple dongle is one the cheapest ones for the sound quality.

I also use the Apple one and quite satisfied with it, recommended if your earphone is sensitive and easy to drive, my UE700 runs okay below half volume.
