Hi,

Same as gabrielmr... Emma installed, seems to update and restart, and then disappear in the background. Ok, then I'll use flashtool. Oh wait, there is a new version, before all, I'll update it and then flash the ftf. So I updated to latest version and... no way to see that firmware. If I had read the tread closely, I would have seen that flashing with Flashtool Version 0.9.19.8 would have taken 2 seconds, instead of trying my best to use the last flashtool version, which doesn't show the downloaded firmware XPERIAM2_1.716_BOOTLOADER_UPDATE_(ONLY_OPEN_DEVICES).ftf.
Just saying for noobs following the procedure.:cyclops:
Hello, if you are using Windows 10 you must uninstall EMMA and install version 8

Turn off your phone using a paperclip, there's a hole in the sim-tray. Or, you can also power it off using Power + Vol+ key comination.
Once done, reflash the IMG using the proper command, fastboot flash recovery name-of-the-file.img (do not cold boot it!!!).

How can I access the recovery?
To enter into the recovery, press and hold the volume down button, and while you're holding it, press and hold the Power button until it vibrates. When you see the Sony logo, stop holding the Vol- Button.

Hi Im a noob, im trying to access recovery on the M2, tried the above, the Sony logo does not come on at all. Pls help!

Hallo!
So I have the M2 Aqua D2403, currently running on stock LLP5.1.1. (D2403_18.6.A.0.182). I have unlocked BL via Flashtool and Sony web to generate the unlock code. Then I used the Flashtool 09.18.6 to somehow probably update the BL (nothing was visible during flashing except the green progress bar). But after the restart of the device, Android updated 254 parts/apps... and when done and fully booted, the device forgot my home wifi password. So I believe I did the BL update correctly and it impacted many settings of the OS. Then I flashed the recovery IMG again:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.3.9600]
(c) 2013 Microsoft Corporation. Všechna práva vyhrazena.
C:\adb>fastboot devices
ZH8006735F fastboot
C:\adb>fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.0-b2.img
sending 'recovery' (15600 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.494s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 1.747s]
finished. total time: 2.244s
C:\adb>fastboot reboot
rebooting...
finished. total time: 0.003s
C:\adb>

Then I turned off the device, pressed the VOL DOWN + POWER to turn the device on. Once SONY showed up, I released the power button, kept holdin the VOL DOWN... Xperia showed, then... VIOLA!!! TWRP RECOVERY SHOWED UP!!!!

I set up the time and other settings of the recovery, then flashed the SU (SR5-SuperSU-v2.82-SR5-20171001224502.zip), wiped Dalvik/Cache and rebooted to OS. Now its again updating 255 apps....

ROOT UNINSTALL app & DEBLOAT WILL FOLLOW!!!

Oh and I forgot!! In the meantime, I followed this YT video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOd-ZI9YbMU) and created myself a heat sink from a piece of copper (18x14x1mm) desoldered and fine polished from an old laptop heat sink... Then gently uncovered the chip, cleaned with alcohol, spreaded a bit of MX-4 on both sides, the chip and the copper sink and covered again ;o))) Now the phone seems warmer then before but thats just because more heat is disipated from the chip! Its temp dropped down from about 70°C to about 45°C in combinated load ;o)))

Thanks!

Me too, BL updated and TWRP flashed OK following your clear instructions. Under Windows XP for the 1st time ever (I'm a Linux user) over a Xperia M2 D2304 with Stock Lollipop 5.1.1 compilation 18.6.A.0.182 and kernel 3.4.0-gc82e70f.

Many thanks! Now, up to find a flashable dark theme for my handset! The bright white settings menu hurts a lot my retins...

Cheers!

Manu
