Wanted to spread the word abut this neat little browser with the community. I'm saying neat cos, while it may lack some important functionality (which can be lived with) it is the only browser, out of hundreds tested (also thanks to our fellow xda member walterfuster) that allows content caching and prevents Android from killing it in the background. Ofc, if you use Recently, that would inevitably kill it. But no matter what LMK and swappiness settings were tried or what apps like Memory Locker were tried, UC remains the only browser so far that stays put in the background and keeps its tabs' contents. This has been tested on more than 1 LG Spirit 4g LTE h440n with 1gb RAM and on Lollipop 5.0.1 and Marshmallow. So that prolly applies to similar phones with 1gb ram where Android needs to swap when you start launching app after app. So for ppl wanting content to be cached offline this is a good solution. Ofc, other browsers allow saving a whole page to an image file, which is even a more secure form of offline content 'caching' but if you don't have the time for it, UC could come in very handy when u r on the run. It integrates well with you tube also and allows directly downloading videos to local storage, which is rather neat. In Settings and in the app MyAndroidTools though you might wanna disable some of the unneeded stuff, like links to Facebook and so on. A major display/GPU issue with it (at least on the tested Spirit phones so far) is described here http://forum.ucweb.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1122861. Hope someone would also find this browser handy.
