I can also confirm. Refresh, turn on hotspot from pull down menu. You'll need to edit your menu and add hotspot for easier access. My speeds appear to be normal via computer via speedofme. Peaking at 20Mbs

Ditto. It works! Using Google Pixel bought directly from Google.

Tip: Put the Hotspot switch on your notification drawer (top 6 tiles) so you have enough time to switch it on as soon as you hit refresh on the network refresher app.

Are u still on 7.1 or have u updated to 7.1.1
I read that they patched it on 7.1.1 update and I dont wanna update to 7.1.1 if they did.

Yeah the network refresher no longer works on latest update. There is still one workaround by removing sim reinserting sim give it half a second and turn on your mobile hotspot. The developer of network refresher app has been working on making his app work again. Hopefully he gets it within cause I'm tied off taking out my sim every 24 hours to turn on hotspot.

Curious so how many of you all have finally rooted and edited the build prop? And how many are still lingering pre 7.1.1?

My last rootable device was the Nexus 7, so I ended up soft bricking my phone the first time but finally rooted and edited the build.prop
It's nice to be able to just hit the hotspot tile like in the old days (Galaxy Nexus)

I would give the developer a donation if he can get this working again. Hate not having hot spot and really don't want to root it breaks some apps I use.

It has nothing to do with your phone or the software you run. VZW does some sort of check before turning on LTE and it disables your hotspot even if you try the SIM pop method.
