Ugly and boring

To each their own. I am only now considering the G5 now that it is actually a great looking phone. To me lg is doing nearly every thing right. Having a plastic phone simply wasn't an option for me and now lg scores huge by giving us all metal and removable battery. Removable battery is a bonus because the look and metal were much more important. I couldn't stand the looks of any previous lg phone. V10 looked OK but plastic pos cover was a deal breaker.

Sure it looks similar in over all design language to the phones mentioned, g6 did the same thing. Everyone is copying the iPhone because it's the best looking phone AINEC. Besides it still stands apart like the 6P and others while still looking premium and not plastic. So lg is finally being smart while also innovating more than anyone else.

I and many others are looking at LG for the first time, at least seriously, over Samsung, iPhone and others. And really we are the target market because there is a reason iPhone and Samsung sell more phones than everyone else.

At first I was sceptical about the design but after using it for a week, the design grew on me. I thought 5.3 was a bit small but it actually feels very comfortable to hold. I still prefer a bigger size phone but this one should be good. I got the chance to look at all the colours, and I'd say the Titan one is the best, following with the pink, gold then silver.

Here's something to drool over ?

I think 5.3" is a good size phone, but my problem is just how large the phone is in relation to the screen size. I mean just look at it compared to the nearly identical display size 5.2" G2:

5.2" G2: 138.5 x 70.9 x 8.9
5.3" G5: 149.4 x 73.9 x 7.7

For a phone with only a 0.1" larger display, it's a heck of a lot larger physically.

I remember playing around with the G2, I picked the Nexus 5 over it but I did like the feel of the G2 better. I'm a 6ft fella that has an average hand size. The phone literally sits comfortable in my hand, and my hand can wrap around the phone without a problem. I think of it like the G3 but a bit smaller.

I'm not sure if this will help but trust me, if you like the feel of the G2 and G3, you would like the feel of this phone. It's really light as well haha :p

I have to admit.
I will only consider to buy G5 instead of S7 because of 3.0 Fast Charge, USB 3.0 Type-C connector and SD 820 CPU. I know, a lot of PROS.
But esteticly... :(:(:(:crying::crying::crying:

What was your impression of the build quality? Some reviewers have said that it feels too light or cheaply put together. Did you have opportunity to test out the mechanism that allow the bottom to detach?

Build quality is excellent in my opinion, I agree with the journalist saying it's light because it really is, especially taking the bottom part off but it's definitely not cheap. I think they're not use to a light metal phone :p Yeah I was working for LG at MWC, I had to detach the bottom part every 30 seconds but even the amount of time I took it apart, the phone was still in prestige condition. No loose gaps or anything odd looking about the design.

Looks like a Nexus 6p,iPhone 6 plus design languange.

I cant believe how many OEMs are copying the boring design of the iphone.
HTC, Sony, LG , Huawei and even samsung.

Seriously, it isnt that good. Its bland and has nothing going for it

For proof, check the "latest" flagships of these OEMs And let me not even start with planned obsolecence of the removable battery...
The Nexus 6P looks NOTHING like the iPhone 6/6S Plus. They are very easy to distinguish from each other. Especially from the back. A lot of others do seem to be mimicking Apple, but def not Huawei.

Love how everyone talks about the S7 as an option yet forgets how horrible touchwiz is.

Having had the G2, G3, G4, S6, and Note 5, I can tell you that Touchwiz is a lot better than LG's UI. Especially now that you can use themes - the material dark theme is amazing on Touchwiz.

That's a valid point. For the average user it's a great UI. But Samsung is like a PC, you need high end specs to run the UI. LG's UI is a bit more vanilla. Personal preference I would say besides the horrible user issues on the S6 directly related to their touchwiz UI.

LG is as far from vanilla as you can get. I'd call Touchwiz more vanilla than LG's. Many people are thinking back to Touchwiz on the S3, S4, S5 days. With the S6 they did a major overhaul and it looks a lot nicer.

Agree to disagree but thank you for your points. Once I can play with a Galaxy S7 I'll give it another chance and see if my perspective can be changed.

The camera bump thing reminds me of the Xiaomi Mi2S with a custom back cover that I have seen for it...
It reminds me of Bender from Futurama.

It's a really ugly design IMO. It's put me off LG now. I'm fairly happy with my white G3 (despite being plasticy) but when I decide to move on it won't be with LG. I'm really hoping WileyFox bring out a flagship phone. Their phones are beautiful.
