I don't understand why you're getting a new phone. They unlock is done over the internet...and is activated on rebooting the phone.I'm also sure the person who called me today understands
I'm awaiting my new phone for them to then sort.

Because they made me return my original one if I was unhappy rather than fixing it or replacing itI don't understand why you're getting a new phone. They unlock is done over the internet...and is activated on rebooting the phone.
Fair enough. The person that made you return it didn't know what your issue was....clearly. Well...fingers crossed for you mate.Because they made me return my original one if I was unhappy rather than fixing it or replacing it
Samsung's choice
If they ask me to return I'm just going to send them this from their own docs:Fair enough. The person that made you return it didn't know what your issue was....clearly. Well...fingers crossed for you mate.
Ha. Nice find. I was fairly sure the lock was related to Trade-in. This is 100% proof. If they ask me to return I'm just going to send them this from their own docs:

Yes, but the manual process behind it fails, my trade in had completed and still the lock was there.Ha. Nice find. I was fairly sure the lock was related to Trade-in. This is 100% proof.
The lock referred to in the Terms is NOT KnoxGuard and the bootloader unlocking toggle being disabled though.Yes, but the manual process behind it fails, my trade in had completed and still the lock was there.
The trade in terms (3) clearly state only locked if the trade in isn't as described
You're correct, the lock is non-specificThe lock referred to in the Terms is NOT KnoxGuard and the bootloader unlocking toggle being disabled though.
The lock they are refering to is one that completely disabled the new phone if you do not pay...or fail to send in the trade-in.
Nothing refers to a bootloader in any terms and conditions linked to buying a new phone....or via the trade-in scheme.
The lock is specific. The lock they refer to is activated via KnoxGuard. They lock the bootloader to stop people from installing hooky software and disabing Samsung's ability to block the phone in case of bad debt. You're correct, the lock is non-specific
Nowhere that I can see does it state KG will be enabled, and why isn't it enabled on indirect devices?
Please evidence where, in the Ts&Cs, the KG bootloader lock is specifiedThe lock is specific. The lock they refer to is activated via KnoxGuard. They lock the bootloader to stop people from installing hooky software and disabing Samsung's ability to block the phone in case of bad debt.
I don't know why it isn't enabled on indirect devices....but my guess is...indirect devices were bought by the sellers...and not the end user.
Admittedly...this isn't the best solution...but hey...most people wouldn't even notice there was no bootloader toggle...and wouldn't care.
The KnoxGuard clearing process is meant to be an automatic one....but it seems that this hasn't worked correctly.
In the end...you'll get a phone with an unlockable bootloader.
It isn't...and that is exactly what I'm saying. Don't pick at me. I'm not Samsung. I'm just passing on what I have worked out. Please evidence where, in the Ts&Cs, the KG bootloader lock is specified
You could have started your assertion with "I guess"It isn't...and that is exactly what I'm saying. Don't pick at me. I'm not Samsung. I'm just passing on what I have worked out.
Maybe I should have...but hey...shooting the messenger isn't a good look.
But you weren't relaying a message, you claimed fact with a guess, and have now doubled down - you are not relaying a message from SamsungMaybe I should have...but hey...shooting the messenger isn't a good look.
Whatever you say dear. But you weren't relaying a message, you claimed fact with a guess, and have now doubled down - you are not relaying a message from Samsung
Mine is expected next Tuesday on my replacement that arrived yesterday

No, mine arrived locked yesterday (I was advised of this in advance)View attachment 5865277
Mine is my original phone....and I have been hassling them since I bought it. It was unlocked....as promised.
I hope your phone comes pre unlocked...but worst case...you just ask for the lock to be removed.
This is how I put it to them. No, mine arrived locked yesterday (I was advised of this in advance)
They have today asked for the IMEI with the aim of unlocking by Tuesday
The hard part is finding someone who understands the subject
What are you doing on this forum with this kind of mindset? lmaoIt will not work for a phone bought in America. Why ... I do not know. It's your phone ... if you want to reduce the security of your phone and put modified software from some geek...or hacker on your phone ..do it
This is unrelated to any carrier lockI got confused a little bit. I don't have the OEM unlocking toggle (row) above Running services in my S23U Developer Options.
Does this mean that if I change the SIM card I won't be able to use the phone with the new SIM provider? Or is it just for the bootloader. I am not planning to root it for the moment, shall I be concerned?
I bought it directly from Samsung and so far didn't pay attention to this but I don't want to be limited to a single provider or have other (locking) problems in the future. Also, is contacting [email protected] the only way for getting this removed?
I used to root and put dodgy software on my phone a lot....but...if you don't root...and you use Shizuku to debloat and an adblocker in Private DNS...you don't really need to root...and trust your security on some geek. What are you doing on this forum with this kind of mindset? lmao

Does your wife want to swap? Not sure if it count! But my wife's S23 got that toggle, both phones arrived two days ago.
Its a £1000 phone, it should just work out of the box, Its your hardware, you should be able to do what you wantY'all is funny! It almost sounds like waiting 7 days for the phone to unlock is the end of humanity.
Which day of the month does the Knox team work - just the 29th this month???Again...only guessing...but I would say...per device. The IMEI of both devices are linked during the transaction. When the trade-in phone gets there...they check that it is in the state that you claimed....and log it as received. They then send a request to the Knox team to remove the lock.
This is me just bashing a guess.....
