So, have we reached any conclusions yet? is it just phones ordered direct from Samsung that it's happening to, or is it completely random.
Question UK ONLY - do you have oem unlock available?

I've written to the uk.president team and provided, order number, trade-in number, serial and IMEI as well as the date the trade-in completed and asked for KG to be removed.
I have no intention of rooting my phone but I also don't like the idea of my phone being locked. I understand why they would do that during the trade-in process but once that is completed, it should be part of the process to automatically unlock the devices.

I did the same. Yesterday I wrote an email, received confirmation of receipt of the email, they said they would contact me within 24 hours. So far no answer...
They're terrible at getting back to you, let alone getting to the correct answer
I wrote reminding them daily. 3 operatives had to recuse themselves for being useless.
I'm now 14 days into my second phone, despite daily contact and regular assertive that this time it's fixed, KG remains enabled so not OEM unlock
I got my original phone 7 weeks ago, this is a total shambles
Well as the phone passed through the 14 day since initial power on a reboot made OEM unlock appear
So whatever was done in the first week was incorrect and one of the attempts in the second week was correct

I sent e-mail to uk president regarding missing oem unlock and by today no response at all, oh dear samsung.
My experience is that you have to hammer the president daily and expect most of the agents not to understand the issue.
You then have to wait for a 7 day anniversary of the initial power on to see if they've done the unlock correctly (requires a reboot)
Available here. UK imported device (aslike any Europe device) activated in Italy, but I don't need this at the moment.
From an Italian online shop. The warranty js European but if I see the info on the retro, it says Produced and selled by Samsung UK.
It'd normal if UK was still in the EU, but not anymore.
OEM Unlock is not concerned in any legal warranty or supported way. I don't think the CEO or Admin Team could answer you, even if they would.
You're allowed to have to bootloader unlocked in EU law.
EU directives are translated into UK law, the retained EU law bill is not on the statute
No, I'll explain. Samsung would never help you to avoid warranty with the process of unlocking bootloader.
No, I'll explain, under EU law Samsung is not entitled to lock the bootloader, it is also not allowed to void warranty because of an unlocked bootloader
I miss that law so. I've only know that they should repair your device if you get back stock.
But the bootloader will always be locked since Android need that to encrypt and get the validity from Google.
At least this before the sell process.
Again, Google itself sells phones where an unlocked bootloader is a few commands away.
KnowGuard is for enterprises and should not be enabled in the consumer channel.
I now wonder why phones from airtime providers are unlocked and Samsung unlocked KG on my phone and provided compensation
Unlocked I mean Unlocked BOOTLOADER, not carrier of course.
If you mean that, I don't know any phones sold eith an unlocked bootloader by default.

I used to root and put dodgy software on my phone a lot....but...if you don't root...and you use Shizuku to debloat and an adblocker in Private DNS...you don't really need to root...and trust your security on some geek.11Last offtopic response, this doesn't or ever work(ed) with the DNS service I want - dns.watch - while this provider works on any other device and is accessible. It also didn't work on my previous phone natively, this is why I used the 'dns changer' app (no root required prior to Android 12/13). Or it may have something to do with the fact I am simultaneously using a firewall that creates a VPN connection and as a result the phone keeps popping messages that it couldn't connect. If Private DNS is off, all connections are fine; if I set it to on with the dns watch parameters, I get disconnected immediately.

By the way, I've got a response from Samsung later today acknowledging communication and requesting some more specific details relating to the device. They didn't ask for clarifications which I comprehend as they understood what I wanted and I am currently waiting for my toggle on confirmation. -
9I just spent a total of 97 minutes on the phone to various support departments in Samsung. For the first 75 minutes, the support person didn't even comprehend the problem, telling me after seeing the download mode screenshot that it's waiting for a download that I need to complete, that's why I have the problem!!
Finally, they gave me a different number to call. The person on the other end of this number comprehended the problem immediately. They gave me clear and unambiguous feedback
- Samsung knows about and acknowledges that there is a problem with numerous retail versions of the S23U where Knox Guard is set to Active mode instead of Completed and the bootloader is locked
- They will be releasing a software update soon to fix the problem
- No, they cannot give an ETA on the software update

Some people from various regions have it happening, and some don't. even accross the same region, no one ever found out why.
Point is, Samsung shouldn't hide this from us, this is your hardware, And Samsung isn't telling us clearly if it unlocks in 168 hours, its all hidden and undocumented...3Received my s23u on 7th and no, I still do not have OEM Unlock toggle in developer options
