Uk orange desire advice needed

high guys can you give me some advice, I have just got a desire on orange uk and now want to flash a generic rom to this phone as the orange firmware is shiiite.

So could some one let me know what steps are needed please, as I'm a bit confused as to what guides to follow and if unlocking is needed.

No need to unlock it if you are staying on orange
I would suggest following this http://android.modaco.com/content/h...e-now-with-hboot-0-80-and-os-to-1-21-support/

As the TUT on here is still for the r5 rooting process - you will have to make a goldcard
After this is all done you will be able to flash a generic rom or any rom on here
