Hi guys, I'm going to E3 in June and I was wondering if there is some sort of "backup battery" for TF Prime, since I'll be heavilly using it the whole day without access to a wall plug. I'm aware of those small external batteries with USB ports which can charge your phone, but since the TF Prime cannot be charged via USB, I was wondering if there is another solution (apart from getting another keyboard dock )

The PowerGorilla battery works if you add the cheap little cable for the TF101 that they sell; I already posted about it on here somewhere.

The PowerGorilla is far from cheap, but I bought it instead of a similarly-priced spare laptop battery so it seemed a good deal for me.

That was a funny comment. It's impossible to buy anything for the Prime in a physical store. I need to send my charger to Asus for repair but can't do so until I find one to use while mines gone, no such luck. It is all IPAD, IPAD, IPAD - yuck!

Hey janys did you ever settle on a charger? I'm going on a trip and have a 4 hour leg and a layover. Would like to have a portable charger but from what I'm reading you better buy something with enough power and high enough voltage to actually charge the Prime. They try to sell phone chargers for the TP but I can't see how one of those would possibly charge my tablet when they don't charge my phone??

Curious about an external power source that's rechargeable. Any ideas?

Actually, Office Depot has tons of chargers. Remember they're the same as for the TF101.

I know Office Depot has them but since I have to buy it online I was hoping to find an external charger as well and order from the same company.

The only problem is many advertise their portable chargers work with the TF201 but as you read the item description, it says for iphone, ipod, and smaller tablets.

I've read on this site that any portable charger for the Eee pad must be at least so many volts, have the #1 & #4 pin taking the charge to the device, and other specs that describe the amount of power needed to charge the Eee pad.

If a charger is mostly for a phone or something like a Nook or Kindle, I don't see how it will have enough output to charge the Transformer Prime??

Does that make sense?

I've searched the forums for external or portable chargers but haven't found any that anyone has actually purchased and can give a thumbs up or down.

But if you have an ipad, you can find anything. That's why the ipad Look Aid comment was so funny to me, it's SO true.

Thanks. Maybe I will just order the charger from Office Depot as long as it's not the same Asus one that's giving me & a few other people trouble.

Gotta have 15v's to charge while its running. Normal USB (1.1, 2.0 AND 3.0) are all 5v.

Thank you so much for verifying that info regarding the charger.

I'm NOT a technically savvy person so it makes a bit of sense yet I just write down what I need and search from there.
One thing that's confusing is the term USB. I know the prime can't charge via USB connection to a computer but when I read USB charge in a description of a portable charger are the speaking about the type of cord that runs from the Prime to the power source and saying USB because that's how the cord connects to the power and the device?

How on earth can you know which power cords, or USB if I'm understanding the term properly, carry the electric current?

I asked a couple sellers of portable chargers and they replied as if I had 3 eyes?

I think because everything is made for APPLE that people assume "it will probably work on this Eee thing she's asking about". But we all know nothing could be further from the truth.

Boy a little knowledge saves a lot of money when it comes to buying accessories for this device!

Quick question about this website, I couldn't find any accessories for Asus Transformer or Prime, how do you enter the search term to find compatible accessories?

I always seem to run into this, I search for an Asus Transformer Prime portable charger and slays get ipad results.

Do they use the same type of charger? I thought I read once they did NOT?

Hey, I just got my Prime and dock recently and I want to protect this bad boy. What do you think is the best case to protect the tablet+dock? Any links with the case name would be a great help to me!!

I ordered the same brand as keltsi95 just posted below except I got the one for keyboard and dock.

keltsi95 took great pics and brought to my attention the model I wanted left the sides more exposed.

So I thought about it awhile and I've used Skinomi tech skin and screen protectors in the past on phones so I put a full Brushed Aluminum Skin on the front, back,and sides of the keyboard as well as back and sides of the tablet.

It's a dry install but very time consuming to get it just right. You hit it with a hair dryer or heat gun and that stuff is not coming off. But if you want it off, you can peel it up with no damage to your device. Can remove & reposition if you're careful.

Wasn't as lucky to get my case as fast as keltsi95 but it should be here in another 7 days. They had to make it.

I'll post picks of my Skimoni. I prefer them over Ghost Armour or other 'skin' type protectors because their return/replacement policy is the best I've ever encountered. I messed up one of the pieces because it was stuck to the paper and they only asked for my receipt and shipped a new one ASAP.

I'll photograph that too once I get the new piece on the keyboard.

Guys, I've bought a USB2Serial adapter that perfectly works with Prime. Now I have RS232 port on my Prime and can configure my Cisco equipment from my tablet!

The adapter is based on Prolific 2303 chip. This chip is very popular and lots of adapters are based on it. I bought mine in the small shop on the street, it was $20 for me, but you can buy the same thing cheaper from DealExtreme ... if you don't mind to wait.

It works right out from the box. Since I plugged the adapter Tty2USB0 device has appeared on the Prime and when I installed Slick USB 2 Serial from market it found my adapter instantly. I've connected to my Cisco switch like a charm!

For those who work with industrial systems USB 2 RS422/485 adapter is also. I believe it will work too.

Hi!, i have an adapater with Prolific 2303 chip, dmesg show me that is registered on ttyUSB0, then i open the Slick USB 2 Serial and i can't connect, this "connects" to Adapter ID 1003, but when i need chose Prolific show me "No available devices!" and i "send" commands and nothing, no answer.

Just if anyone is wondering, I got a Sandisk 64gb micro SDXC card for my Galaxy S3 and it works perfectly in the TF201. Should add that to the list, prices have come down heaps lately, and the performance and capacity of this card is heaps better than the others you have listed.

I put the same Sandisk in but only 32GB and same story-works great. Got it when they went on sale at Costco. Can't usually beat a COstco sale price.

Also had a Sandisk Micro SD 8GB in the tablet but the darn thing popped out while I was traveling so I don't know if it was lost on the plane, in the airport, etc.

Someone else posted the same thing about the micro coming out of the tablet if accidentally pressed in. That's one I won't be keeping the the SD slot 24/7. The 32 GB full SD, never had an issue with.

Prime is here and Got This Case/Holder from HHI

Finally broke down and got a tablet and decided on the Prime (May also get an infinity when it is out) But Since I ordered my prime on Monday, I have been looking at cases, etc... I am a big fan of Carbon fiber and Found a bunch of cases for just the tablet but not for both until I finally found and ordered this beautiful case from Amazon today.

USB extension cable

Does anyone know where I could purchase an extension cord for the USB cable? I tried using an extension cord that I had from my Logitech F710 game pad but it didn't charge my Transformer Prime. I know the cable extension isn't faulty because it works to charge an iPad 2.

You can only charge your Prime using a USB3 port. And you will need a USB3 extension cord
