UMI X2 Screen replace - easy!!

Hi everybody,
I just wanted to share my impressions with you as I read that it's not easy to replace the screen.
Some days ago i dropped my phone and the glass broke. I ordered a screen at chinapadmall.com and replaced it this weekend without any issues.

The phone consists of 3 big parts:

- The screen
- the mainboard (2 small ones connected with a wire)
- the metal frame everything is mounted to

These tree are easy to separate with a very small screwdriver. Take care of any glued or clipped parts during disassembly!!

The back of the damaged screen contained 3 parts I had to keep: The speaker and a small rubber part left beside it that is needed for the proximity sensor to work. So remove and replace them. The third part is a cable band. It's located under the big black sticker in your battery tray. Peel it of carefully and replace it, too.

After putting together all 6 parts again, I turned on the phone and everything worked like a charm...

Beside the quite expensive replacement screen it's an easy job to do. It took me only about one hour...

So everybody feel free to send me your phone (incl. screen and I will replace it :p) If I get the chance to replace one more screen I will take some photos...

Hi everyone

I have a serious problem with my umi x2 and really need help to fix it!

It just happened when i had problem with my GPS with wasn't working at all i tried to fix it by flashing a official scatter rom by sp flashtool v5, but before doing that i just selected the option to "Format whole flash" to just delete everything and start over with the backups i got before doing that.

but i dont know why something went wrong and when tried to download the rom with it after formatting, it went well but when i tried to put my backups back to phone again, i noticed there isnt any sd card partition and expect the root files, there isnt anything in phone even the sd card folder...

Now i cant copy anything to phone or download something or anything at all, i just have the default programs by the rom and nothing els...
I used Snappea program to install some apps on it but its not enough and i really want the sd card folder back and work again...

I even used Minitool Partition program on my PC to make 2 different partitions on the phone, it went well but now i just could put things only with pc and even when i put something in my phone and start a File Manager on phone i cant find the files, like its not there at all..

Can someone help me to fix this serious problem and get my phone work like before ??

PLEASE HELP.. Its so bad and im feeling like sh!t now...

Thanx for only umi x2 display replace usefull info on internet I could find :)
I got broken screen and I want to order it but noticed there are 2 versions, for V5 and V6 motherboards.
Removed plastic back part to reveal motherboard and there is V6_MB_V3.0_2013 (pic attached)writting so I guess its V6.
Tried to remove upper motherboard and saw that cable for power/vol buttons cant be removed from MB.
Do you remember are power/vol buttons glued to metal frame and is it hard to remove it?
Also I supose that display is glued to metal frame, is it?
Thank you.

Best regards,

ZG

Well, it was easier than expected, just need to unglue display from the front side and remove upper motherboard just slightly (don't need to unglue or detach buttons) on the right side so you can get display connectors trough.
New display need to be glued to the metal frame again. 20min job :)

Ordered mine, it can take a couple weeks before I have it, but im planning to develop on it.
Cyanogenmod won't be possible as mediatek does no give free their kernel sources, but an optimized stock rom is the least I can do.

sorry one last question is rom rooted bro:fingers-crossed:

Yeah it's rooted =) it's always rooted. haha...A lot less chinese apps from what i see. But it still doesn't fix the gps issue. Just follow the standard gps fixing method by using mobile uncle tools. Although the camera's supposed to be improved. Don't really see much difference to be honest. Was expecting them to fix the focus. Starting to feel this is a hardware shortcoming instead of drivers.
