If I read things right: If you downloaded from Mega, you have the corrupted version; if you downloaded from GDrive, you have the working one.
The GDrive one is the one that works.
Very nice, @lzgmc Thank you so much!

Can you share your experience of how one captures the MSMDownload tool in a remote session?
They emailed me a link to a Chinese file hosting service, similar to Google Drive or MediaFire. It was protected with a password, which I was given in the same email. After that, I downloaded the file from that file hosting service.

Got it. So they don't log into one's machine using a "remote session"? It is just download and then self-service?

No, they're asking you to download the files in advance, then schedule an appointment to get your phone fixed. During the appointment, the tech guy logs onto your computer and uses the MSM tools.

I just downloaded the file from the GDrive link. I am getting a "Data Error" when using 7zip to extract, "Incomplete data" when using Winzip, and WinRAR just hangs when opening the file. What is everybody else using to extract the file?

I then re-downloaded the file a second time, assuming it got corrupted the first time while downloading. But I am getting same errors for the second downloaded file too. The file size is identical in both downloaded files of 3,475,032,475 bytes

@lzgmc can you please share the the MD5 and SHA256 checksums of the file that works for you and which Windows archiver you used?

The file I downloaded has MD5 checksum of bacdf97421c5a2ebc3312be1787cb76c and SHA256 checksum of 726549d053902029bbe23973046f6bc75da4e6a5b12c2ee97910c85f36207890

Thanks. I used Wizip eval version, but it did not work.

Can you please share the file size and the MD5 or SHA256 checksum of the file you successfully extracted from? That will narrow it down to whether it is a download issue or an extractor issue.
Just FYI. I got data corruption too. So it's not just you.

Use Winrar, 7zip can't handle .tar.bz2 files. It takes several minutes for Winrar to open the file.

I grabbed the MSM tools from the GDrive link, unpacked, and rezipped it as a .7z file. I'm in the middle of uploading to Mega, but it's going to take around 2 hours to finish uploading. I'll post a link when it's done.
