Unable to Unlock HTC Titan

Hey everyone,

I have an HTC Titan from T-Mobile (UK). I've recently wanted to unlock it since I'll be travelling to the states. I requested my unlock code from an Ebay user and entered a giffgaff SIM - however it does not ask me to enter a PIN and just tells me that it can not connect to any networks.

I've tried using an o2 sim but had no luck with that either.

Am I doing something incorrectly or can my phone be unlocked only by T-Mobile?

Many thanks,

Amaresh

The procedure to unlock the phone is:
1. Enter a sim other than you carrier
2. Start the phone, and it will ask you the unlock code
3. Enter the code and if it is correct, the phone starts

In your case, if it is not asking for an unlock code, it might be already unlocked.

Try using some different carrier's sim to see if it works.

I have an HTC Titan on AT&T and i recently purchased an unlock code from ebay. Although the phone unlocks, it asks for the unlock code everytime the phone boots with a sim card other than AT&T. Although the code works fine every time, its like the phone doesnt stay unlocked. So there might be other issues with unlocking that it appears.

Hi, serialtoon. Were you able to resolve this issue? I am having the same issue. I have a brand new HTC TITAN and I entered the Unlock Code I got from ebay. The code works for me but I am asked to enter it every time the phone reboots. Please let me know if you were able to resolve this issue.

Really, guys... never trust the Unlock Code provider from Ebay...
I would rather pay like $30 on a trusted website like cellunlocker...
Because you can always get paypal involve if something goes wrong with the code.

I bought 2 different unlock codes and they both didnt work. I think its something with our hardware that doesnt allow for unlock codes. I have yet to overcome this. As of right now im over it and im just using my phone as is.

Unlock

Mine unlock code works fine, but yes - I need to enter in every time I reboot the phone. Fortunately, I don't have to reboot it that often - so far my at&t Titan is rock solid. Hopefully, the 8107 will be released soon by at&t to fix some issues.

IMHO, the stock ROM is somehow protected from unlocking, so it re-locks every time you reboot your phone. My guess is that this "glitch" will be taken care of in one of the first custom ROMs when they become available. So be patient. For myself I have a temporary work around - I put a stickie with my unlock code on the back of the battery cover.

I have an unlocked AT&T-branded HTC Titan. I entered the code once and that was it.

Not sure what's going on with your phone but maybe the code you have is not really an unlock code?

Same issue here as couple of posters above with a brand new AT&T HTC titan.

I ordered an unlock code from ebay and while it unlocks the phone, the moment the phone is powered off and back on, I am asked for the SIM unlock code again.

Hopefully someone figures why this is happening as it's quite frustrating to be honest.

WoW~~

I got the same issue it asks pin code once rebooting Titan. There are 2 guys who have AT&T Titan phones without this problem. But the produce date are 20111131, but mine is 20111201. I'm not sure it's a mainboard issue or not.
One more issue is I could not use WP7 Update Cab Sender add foreign language into this phone, but those 2 guys can.

I got my code direct from HTC and have the same issue. If the device reboots or looses signal sometimes it will again ask for the unlock code. So annoying.

I flashed the my HTC Titan rom with the below one, and it resolved my problems. Now it is permanent SIM unlock Below is the procedure. No more askign the unlock code on every reboot.
Hit thanks if this helped you..

Just an idea (as I don't have my Titan yet) but I've heard that this issue can be caused if the phone's working storage area has maxxed out. Trying increasing the amount of reserved space and rebooting the phone.

Getting 2 titans off contract (not unlocked) one for me and one for my dad from the Smoked by Windows phone challenge. Hopefully I can unlock them with zero hiccups, if there is a problem I'll try these suggestions.
