Hi,

I will have my hands on a Titan for a few days or week about and

will try to unbrand ASIA branded in order to run a Europe operator ROM

Did you have any flashing issues up to now with Europe or ASIA ROMs?

Great news we have a developer working on the titan.

I would prefer this type of post to be in the general section, as the read before sticky states (No questions in the development section). Once sorted, please post the results in the development section.

If you have any issues please feel free to PM me.

Thanks

Your friendly HTC Titan moderator:)

Yes.

I have a a UK Titan here in Singapore, and there is a known bug which means that Contact Cards are not referenced when receiving an incoming call with a +65 prefix. This problem is not present on the Taiwan models.

So, our friendly Football sent my the Taiwan ROM for me to try flashing.

I can tell you that no chance with RUU. So next step is goldcard method.

However, problem is my Y-cable did something nasty and blew out the screen on my Titan  The unit still works, just cannot see anything on screen. Its been in for repair since the end November and I still don't have it back to try again.

So yeah, very interested to see if you can cross-flash, and how.

if anyone backup a unbranded rom utilizing this and restore over a branded rom? its the same hardware why not try

if anyone post a unbranded backup i want to try because my titan still on warranty, and i doubt my network operator is going to check if i tried to install another software.

Hi,

I have received my HTC Titan today, unfortunately Its branded do Vodafone Ireland.
Today I'm gonna try to unbrand my phone with the xboxmod method, as you can see here
Does anyone have already tested this in the HTC Titan?

Let's hope this works.

did it work?
Yes, today I have successfully unbranded my HTC Titan. I made a Y cable and the goldcard with my Micro SD (you can find more info here). I have used this ROM IMG_Eternity_HTC_Europe_1.08.401.02_Radio_16.23.02.09_2_16.24.00.23U_Signed_ETERNITY_RELEASE (you can find it here) and I renamed it to ETERIMG.nbh and then pasted it to the root of the card. After that, you just have to wait and enjoy. :)

Can you tell me - once you have goldcard with image - do you go into bootloader and then connect cables, or connect cables and then enter bootloader?

Nothing happing for me - except when connected I do not get the "serial" on bootloader screen...but nothing else happens :( For instance, does the bootloader screen say USB or anything?

Any more detail you can provide is appreciated.

EDIT: also no response in USB host mode (where you get the phone/laptop grahpic)

You can be into bootloader first (Vol down + camera + power) and as soon you connect your USB device with your image, the phone will start immediately the updade.
If the phone don't start the update, its because something is wrong with the cable or the goldcard.

Hi, I have here Titan branded with German Vodafone. I have made goldcard and copied the eterimg.nbh file to the root of sd card. But when I plug the double usb cable with the goldcard to the phone the "no image file" is written for split second on the screen. I have tried to create goldcard with xtc clip and with the goldcardtool but the same problem. I switched phone into bootloader by pressing vol- + camera and power. Can You help me? Thanks for reply.

This happened to me when I plug the double usb cable with no sd card or with no goldcard. Make the goldcard again and try it.

Good question! I bet a lot of us in the US want to unbrand our phones just like I did with my HD2. Whoever is working on it, keep going. There's a lot of us waiting patiently.

I DID IT!
Finally, got the Taiwan ROM 1.10.709.01 flashed onto my EU (UK) Titan. :D :D :D
After the flash (release 7720) I got the 7740 and 8107 updates to give me:

OS 7.10.8107.79
FW: 1600.2200.20302.709
HW: 0002
Radio: 16.23.03.17_16.27.00.23U
Radio HW: 2.122.0.D4
Bootloader: 2.3.160015.3(134621)

Although my UK Titan was unlocked/unbranded, there was a weird bug with caller contact cards not showing on incoming calls if the number was stored with international prefix. (There was also a bug that meant no contact name was shown on incoming text messages if there was NO international prefix. Basically- the phone was handling calls and messages differently, and often I only got the number displayed )

SO yeah, now that is fixed :D :D :D

After the flash, the first welcome screen is in Chinese, so you select the bottom right box (for "next") and the next screen gives you the chance to select English. After the reboot, everything seems to work as it did on the EU ROM, except that Connected Media app from HTC is still labelled in chinese, not english  But if that is the only noticeable difference, I can live with that ;)

Totally possible with Goldcard method already :D

I will add that what took me so long (I had the ROM in late november!) is that firstly my home-made Y-cable blew my screen and the Titan went for vacation at HTC Service Centre for six weeks.

Then I kept making my Goldcard, trying all sorts of different methods to get it to work, but my phone kept getting stuck on "Loading..." screen.

I had tried reading the CID from my SD Card via my Android HTC Flyer with the Goldcard Tool, and a WM6 HTC Touch I had lying around with the PSAS tool, and weirdly the CIDs were different (same SD Card).

I tried using Hex editor to write the goldcard to the disk, but it kept coming back as not formatted...

Eventually, I downloaded an app on my tablet called "Goldcard Helper" which showed up TWO CIDs on my tablet...one for internal storage I guess, and one for my SD Card...thus, the goldcard tool was only giving me CID for my internal storage and I was trying to make that into a goldcard on another SD...

So anyways, when I finally established the correct CID, I used the online tool to generate the goldcard, then used Goldcard Tool to write it to the SD card. Then copied over the TW ROm, labelled it ETERIMG.nbh and plugged it in...no dice!

I had read someone that some female to female USB adapters are cross-over, so as a last resort I tried another f/f/ USB adapter...and WHAM flash starts.

Bit of a panic moment when the phone rebooted a few minutes in, but that seems to be part of the install process. Then it just a matter of waiting until the phone reports "success".

Sweeeeeeeeeeeet :D

Out of interest, what is special about the ROM you are developing?

Seems that NuMbErSeVeN has managed to unbrand with a goldcard ROM flash...and just today I managed a Asia ROM flash onto EU Titan...

If all you are looking for is to unbrand an Asia Titan to an EU one, why not just try a goldcard flash with one of the stock ROMs? If it works one way, why should it not work the other way?!?
