edit: problem solved for me thank you ionioni!!!!!
Hi,
I have exact same problem as bosondehiggs. "couldn't find boot device handle." when I try to flash the restore bios.img. I used the file with the link at top of thread.
Any idea?
Thanks for your help![]()
Hi,
the same problem to me on my Teclast Air III !!
I hope anyone who solved the problem can help us ...
Thx a lot
Alex
I flashed my M5C6 softbricked with the BIOS for C5J8 (2.05c) from the other post and it works now my tablet. The only problem I had me too is that the system doesn't reboot automatically after flashing process like @acnic so after 7 minutes I rebooted manually (with all my fingers crossed), finally the tablet has started like usual (I did the restore default settings into BIOS).
Now the only "problem" I had is that when I shutdown the system from Android or W10, I can't restart with power button so I need to press 10s before to can start the system again, Someone have an idea of this behaviour?
Many thanks again for your incredible work and support!!
Santi

Hello @Gitanitos, eres español? Do you have a M5C5?The img of the OP worked for you?Hello blackbile, I bricked using the flashing method from Techknight's. I have unbricked with your guide (BIOS from C5J8)

Hello @Calimero1205, do you have a small '9c' beside the charge icon when the tablet is charging? I dont know if the CJ58 worked for me... I have a small 9c charging.. means that worked?Hi all,
I also had a softbricked M5C5 and had the same problem as some others here before that the M5C5 unbrick image isn't working.
I've took the risk and used @ionioni 's unbrick image for the C5J8 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/x98-air/help/unbrick-bios-softbrick-x98-air-3g-id-t3285191) to unbrick my M5C5 because I saw that this is starting and it worked with the M5C6 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64748483&postcount=18).
Now my M5C5 has a working dual boot bios so the recovery was successfull.
Thank you so much @ionioni for the great work & @Gitanitos to try it on the M5C6.
I have the very same issue... I cannot flash anything, either this BIOS or a Mirek ROM. Can anyone tell me if they managed to fix this? What can I do? Thank you for any help!
What worked for me (I had the same issue) was rebooting and entering the Bios (use a keyboard and press Esc during the boot) and select the option to restore the default settings and than save and exit. After that go in dnx mode and do the same thing (use c5j8 bios - the file is here on page 2). That worked for me and was pretty easy, I guess the key thing is the bios reset and using that bios version to get it working.
Im in the same situation, neither works.. this img or the cj58 bios.Hi all, so if this fails on my air iii M5C5, is my only option now to go down the eeprom flash road?
Glad to see this is working for lots of people, gutted my new x98 is well and truly bricked lol
I can entry in DNX ever, and the pc detects and list the tablet as fastboot device.as long as you can load in to dnx mode there is always hope. Just keep on reading and try solutions
Worked perfect on my air iii, it was fast too, it is now rocking a dual boot Mirek190 v7
I could not have done it without ionioni![]()
@ ALL
below is an updated file for restoring the bios on M5C5 models, the one posted in the main post of this thread is NOT working! i have updated this file more than a week ago and sent the link to the thread owner @mirco446 so that he updates the link in the OP but it seems that once i got his tab fixed was no longer that interested of this/others (tho he was quite quick and answering when he was on a bricked tab)
https://anonfiles.com/file/9737f31cbc4291e95a7f2d649a8c8239
how to:
start in dnx mode and input
fastboot flash osloader efilinux.efi
fastboot boot restore_bios_m5c5.img
once the second command was entered, if you have no messages on your screen leave the tab at least 7-8 minutes until you power off by force! or you can hard-brick. to be used on m5c5 model ONLY!
@joney94
if your tab is the m5c5 model use the file linked above to restore the bios
if on a different model (or the file linked doesn't somehow work) find the correct bios file for your tab and use these steps to flash it to your tab
Can I try to flash a bios file in DNX MODE?is the same BIOS file that @mirco446 used to restore his bios using a similar tool, the tool was updated to show status messages, but it uses the exact same bios file
if you need the bios file (check for what?) just unpack the boot image, or if you want to flash YOUR bios file use the DNX flasher tool from the other thread
---------- Post added at 23:26 ---------- Previous post was at 23:23 ----------
yes as i already said, the tool for m5c5 was NOT working at all (the boot image will not complete to load due to a missing config) but this latest one is fixed and should work fine.

any chance of the files being uploaded to somewhere other than anon files as its down for me cheers
Good evening gents,
Since I broke my BIOS on my m5c5 by flashing the wrong one with Tecknights Tutorial, I was desperately trying to get back to the working BIOS.
Thanks to ionioni we have a way to unbrick our devices (as long as they still boot into dnx).
I accidentally flashed the wrong BIOS on to my X98 Air iii (m5c5) and thought i bricked it beyond repair (except opening it up and flashing it with EEPROM Clip).
Now we have a solution to flash the DUAL BOOT - BIOS to the m5c5 through dnx mode:
WARNING: EVERYTHING YOU DO, YOU DO AT YOUR OWN RISK! Only tested on m5c5! Using it on other devices can HARDBRICK!!!
IMPORTANT: DO NOT CUT THE USB OR POWER AND WATCH OUT THAT THERE IS ENOUGH POWER IN THE ACCU.
1. Copy the following files into your fastboot directory on your pc:
https://anonfiles.com/file/28e5e4990eee25d74ff4d6cc99fdb548
2. Boot the device into dnx/fastboot (pressing power and Vol+/Vol- at the same time)
3. Plug the device in via usb, open up a command prompt in your fastboot directory and type the following:
fastboot devices #Check if device is recognized
fastboot flash osloader efilinux.efi #Push Efiloader onto device
fastboot boot bios_restore_m5c5.img #restores the dual boot bios
4. Wait for reboot. There is now a 100 second timer in case of second guesses and afterwards update notifications during the flash. It takes between 3-5 Minutes. DO NOT FORCE REBOOT it WILL HARDBRICK
Be happy to have unbricked your BIOS. And thank ionioni !! PM him if you have any questions!
