[Unbrick] Hard Bricked ASUS Fonpad 7 / Stuck on Intel logo (no recovery &droidboot)

Hello everybody , today I will share with you my experience how to unbrick your ASUS device which is stuck on Intel logo which can't go to recovery or droidboot.

REQUIRED FILES

1. Intel USB driver
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=24694152805483834
2. iSocUSB driver
https://yadi.sk/d/etGijODE3Cinbc/iSocUSB-Driver-Setup-1.2.0.exe
3. ASUS usb driver
https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/ZenFone/ZE500CL/ASUS_Android_USB_drivers_for_Windows_20150212.zip
4. xFSTK Downloader
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=24391638059059482
5. Files for unbrick from official asus firmware use old one !
http://www.filedropper.com/asusfonepad7fe170cgunbrickfilesofficialsupport
The official website for another Versions :
https://www.asus.com/Tablets/ASUS_Fonepad_7_FE170CG/HelpDesk_BIOS/
6. ASUS flash tool
https://drive.google.com/uc?id=0B9rp3AJHKJXjNmRuRUJMWmtOT3c&export=download
7. Asus RAW firmware
http://download1199.mediafire.com/e...170CG_V11.2.3.33-raw_2015_SmartPhones.How.zip
8. Minimal ADB & FastBoot tool
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790

password: NeverGiveUp

SO LET'S START :)

Before we start , make sure that your battery is fully charged if you are not sure , put on charger for about 2 - 3 hours and then continue :) .

1. First we need to install Intel USB driver, iSocUSB driver and ASUS usb driver .
Intel USB and iSoc USB driver comes in .exe setup but ASUS driver we need to install manually .

Here you have video instruction how to install that driver manually :) .

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XpQ1DS63UM

2. Now Open xFSTK-Downloader and click on CLVP A0/B0/B1 from bellow menu and insert all 4 files from xFSTK files folder and fastboot.img.bin file for OS image from Unbrick ROM files folder .

See picture where to insert each file:
https://ibb.co/kGxdpG

For insering last SoftFuse file see this pictures:
https://ibb.co/nwaL3b
https://ibb.co/fFksGw

3. Now make sure your device is off , if is stuck on Intel logo just press long power button while is turned off.

4. Now hold Vol + and plug USB on your device and connect to PC.

5 .Once you connected your device wait while Device status (CLOVERVIEWPLUS TARGETS DETECT) is changed from 0 to 1 and fast click on Begin Download .

See picture :
https://ibb.co/h03yOb

Now the Progress will be green, so wait until Downloading is Finish and the phone it should be on USB logo , or DroidBoot screen and go to the next step :) .

6.Now move this 3 files from Unbrick ROM files folder and move to ADB folder which is located to C:/ adb ( that ADB folder is from ADB & FastBoot tool which you had installed before).

- boot.img
- fastboot.img
- splashscreen.img

It should look like this see picture:
https://ibb.co/hMYJpG

7. Now stay on that ADB folder , click on Empty place hold shift key on your keyboard and click on Open command window here

see picture:
https://ibb.co/fK2NGw

8. Now to check if is your device in fastboot mode write this command :
fastboot devices and press one time Enter

If your device is show up it will be something like bellow.
see picture:
https://ibb.co/jr1M9G

If your device it doesn't show up then unplug your device from usb cable , make sure your device is off if not press again long power button. Now press together Vol + and Power button at the same time , it will vibrate but don't release keys , once ASUS logo appear release both keys and fast press just Vol - button several times until you see USB logo and Droid Boot screen and plug back usb cable .

Now write again :

fastboot devices and press one time Enter and you should see your device now .

Next step is to write this commands one by one :

fastboot flash fastboot fastboot.img and press one time Enter

fastboot flash boot boot.img and press one time Enter

fastboot flash splashscreen splashscreen.img
and press one time Enter

fastboot exit and press one time Enter

9. Now RunASUS Flash tool and do as I showed bellow , once you do that it should be Serial Port detected , once is detected click on START and wait for flashing is Finish.

see picture:
https://ibb.co/kaSiOb

Once you finish that device will reboot to Asus logo , so this will take some time so wait little bit and you have fully worked device ;). and you can update normally to Lolipop 5 without problem from settings :) , but again make sure your battery is full because it will take some time do download and also to install that update .

I hope that this will help you also to unbrick your device. :)

Good Luck :)

Hey! Thanks a ton for this.

A bit of help is needed. My Fonepad FE170CG was stuck on the Intel logo, I followed your guide and I was able to get into Droidboot, but after that, the flashing process didn't work. I tried again by carefully following the steps but nothing changed. ASUS Flashtool is showing the device as connected with blue circle but when I click on start, the flash process doesn't commence. Finally when I checked the Droidboot screen, it was showing error messages like:

E: failed to mount / cache (No such file or directory)
E: unable to mount cache

Basically it can't mount any of the /data /system /cache partitions.
Fastboot is working fine. I was able to flash all the image files you have provided.

I have been trying since 3 days and some Googling around has got me confused. Is something wrong with the eMMC? Is it corrupt? I also tried flashing the temporary CWM (using the method described here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61379150&postcount=15 ) and it was loaded perfectly but was showing same messages. I tried flashing official ROM through SD update in CWM but no avail. The installation process starts but suddenly ends with 'can't mount' errors.

What should be the cause? Any help will be much appreciated. Again thanks for the guide, I have been looking for this since 2 months :)

Hi dude , sorry for late response , but it sound like your emmc is bad but to be sure try this :
Once you enter into fastboot mode write the commands bellow :

fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase user data
fastboot flash fastboot fastboot.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash splashscreen splashscreen.img
fastboot exit

If that doesn't help you try with litle bit higer android version than above , you will find ifwi archive inside firmware and that are the files for xFSTK Downloader .

Try another version of firmware for different region , and inside stock firmware you will find one archive extract that archive and put those files on one new folder , now from that same stocc firmware make one copy of fastboot.img and rename that copy to fastboot.img.bin to use that file for xFSTK rest steps you have in my post . Good luck :)

Good guide!

However, I encountered a problem right after applying the xFSTK downloader update. The update did work, however I can't get it into adb/fastboot mode.

I tried doing it all over again but it to no avail, it doesn't work. Even swapped usb cables, still won't work.

I think the culprit might be the ASUS adb interface drivers. I'm getting an "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". I think the drivers may be corrupted, or it's just windows 10 acting crazy. On the other hand, instead of the usual droidboot screen, I kept getting the intel and the usb logo again even with the fastboot.img file flashed, but the tablet shutting off after the usb logo appearing for a split scecond.

Hope you'll answer quick, I've got a hectic schedule coming right away... And my friend's getting impatient to have his tab back lol

My Fonepad 7 is stucking at the Intel logo. When I turn it on, it shows the Intel logo for about 3 secs then turn off, then turn on itself (with the Intel logo), then turn off and on....
My PC can't recognize it because it just keep rebooting like that. The CLOVERVIEWPLUS TARGETS DETECT just change to 1 (for 1 sec) and then return to 0, and then 1 again.... Pressing Vol up or down before plugging the cable in doesn't work. Please help me.

Edit: on VERY RARE occasion it connected successfully to my computer. Device Manager shows "CloverviewPlus Device", but xFSTK detection counter just remain 0. Restart xFSTK doesn't help. If I unplug and replug the cable, it return to the state I described above.

Thank you so much, now my fonepad is finally usable again, and asus demo not annoys me again.

Oh yeah, you can click begin download, and it will count down from 60 seconds, while the time tickling down, you can connect the fonepad (while off of course) with volume up pressed, and it will download as expected. One story from me is, my tab wouldn't go to fastboot or droidboot mode even the download successful, instead it stuck on intel logo. Hopeless, next days i trying charge my pad for 1 hours. Trying again, and it worked ?. Before that. i'm never considering to charge because before that, while i tried to connect my pad without pressing any button, it showing that fonepad has 90% battery left.

Hi , are you able to go into fastboot mode or recovery mode or is stuck just on Intel logo ?

Did you check if your device is recognized in minimal adb & fastboot terminal ?

Hello. The link 5 is not working again and it seems to be mandatory fo this process besause the xFSTK downloader stucks at 5% and then gives multiple errors. Please update it. Thank you.

I had to unroot my device, but messed up somewhere, and I couldn't enter recovery. I tried ALL methods above multiple times, but nothing worked. Everything worked up until Android Flash Tool, in which there was no progress. The device was detected, but nothing happened after that. Then I tried the tethered CWM too, but that threw a dozen 'E: failed...', 'can't mount cache, etc' errors.

Finally I did the following, and voila! I'm back to business.
1. Extract WW_FE170CG_V11.2.3.33-user-201503021930-rawdata_partition.zip
2. Reboot device into droidboot mode.
3. Locate FE170CG-softfuse-flashall-PR-no_wipe.cmd inside the extracted folder
4. Connect device to PC and execute FE170CG-softfuse-flashall-PR-no_wipe.cmd

That's it!
