[UNBRICK] HTC Unbricking Project

Hey Guys,

Sensation got bricked when I tried to format the SD Card... (didnt know something so simple would brick it).

So basically its only detected in windows as QHSUSB_DLOAD and I cannot detect it in ADB.

Does anybody have a clue on what to do as this phone is kind of vital for my work so need to get it fixed as soon as I can.

Read the OP and wait patiently. I'm in the same boat as you, formatted, my SD card and boom! Dead phone!

I'm on the same boat with you two. But from what I've read so far this problem cannot be fixed with the upcoming release. Can anyone confirm this? Dexter, can you please confirm or deny this? Thanks.

It seems many are on this boat
I sent my phone to HTC and they said that it needs a new board?!?! since my phone is not under warranty, it will cost me about 2/3 the price of a new phone
so should I wait till the upcoming release? or is it really that kind of bricking that cannot be solved by software as HTC guys claims?

To those that flashed Virtuous and after reboot the phone was dead: not recoverable. Rom-side issue
To those that formatted sd on AOKP: no idea yet, still looking on it

Seems like the AOSP roms cause bricks. If you want to flash one, be extremely careful

To those who bricked by turning s-on: Avant premiere tomorrow instead of today. Minor unexpected problems occured. Thanks for your patience

that situation is strange. Try to change your charger and battery and the problem might be solved. It doesnt really seem as a software problem, but in any case, a ruu flash would be good. if it continues after doing all the above, then it might be a hardware defect

When I connect my phone to my PC, it is detected as QHSUSB_DLOAD and in device manager it shows that driver for this device is not installed

really man? What a bad luck, I just left it for charging when it suddenly shut off..and my phone is still under warranty, so any chances for me to get replaced with a new one perhaps?

I have the same storry....send to service...change my board...i have warranty to....my phone had s off and aokp os

I think they repaired it under warranty because they were not able to get it started as well

Mine got repaired too under warranty. I had ICS stock ROM before and tried to do a S-ON and got bricked. Now I have my phone back with a new motherboard but I'm too scared to S-off and flash unbranded stock ROM again. I will just wait for Vodafone to release official ICS update.

Gingerbread is absolutely horrible compared to ICS. Soooo slow. I wanna flash unbranded but I'm scared ash sh*t. Already bricked once and got lucky with warranty. Not doing anything again ever.

yep my sensation xe is bricked with QHSUSB_DLOAD too i guess i have a nice paper weight now... not to pester you but would what your working on here fix this ? is it worth waiting for release or shall i just smash it on the floor with a hammer ?

if you follow the directions, just like you should have the first time, you'll be just fine.

how did you brick it? so far, this method will help only the people who bricked by going s-off to s-on.

what exactly did you do? what rom was it running? by factory reset, do you mean the option in one of the menus?

It has been a few weeks but I think I was on OpenSensation. And yes, I went into Settings>Backup&Restore>Factory Data Reset (and also reset the SD card).

It stalled on a black screen for a while (maybe 20min), so I figured maybe it was in a bootloop or something so I pulled the battery. Now it won't turn on or anything. I have tried switching chargers, batteries, tried holding power+vol up/vol down, but still nothing. The charge LED will not turn on, and the screen shows no life.
