Thankyou very much....but no 1.17 hboot in the package?
The hboots are device specific. 1.17 is included in the Sensation and Sensation 4G package. The Sensation XE came out with the 1.18 hboot. If you had the revolutionary/eng hboot it is safe to flash the 1.18, as long as you flash a ruu straight ahead

You beauty! It's sprung into life after months of being "dead". Well it keeps going straight into the bootloader so I'm sure I can get it going from there. Thankyou all very much for your efforts!!

Both download links for the Sensation 4G seem to be the 32bit version.

Is Kubuntu live cd good for this? What distro are your guys using?
kubuntu should be good :)
it has been tested on ubuntu 10.04 and later
problems occur only if the system has Unity installed

when I type ./brickdetect.sh I get this:

"The bricked device is on
Use the above node to perform operations using the emmc_recover tool"

Maybe it because I am one of the AOSP SD format bricks??

can anyone confirm if it works for the sd-card format brick or not?
How is your entire phone bricked if your ad card is? I was able to boot normally in the rom which I was running normally just the SD card wasn't picked up. To fix it, get any old phone that can handle your sd card and it will format it for you.

You've misunderstood. On AOSP 4.0 roms until yesterday, if you attempted to use the "format SD card" function in the settings menu, you would brick your phone. Something else - not the SD card - was getting formatted.

That message means that it cant find the device

After some testing, I can tell you safely that this method will not work with the AOSP bricks on SD wipe and Factory reset. I am sorry guys, but those roms managed to wipe firmware partitions that are crucial for the device to boot and in a lower boot level that we are operating on. In order to repair it, either RMA it to HTC or JTAG it. I'm sorry, but can't help with that

Thank you for confirming this. Look like I have no choice but to send it back to HTC.

I searched this thread for an answer but came up with nothing (though im sure with 70 pages--its there and i just missed it)

I had S-OFF, and a custom rom. I was planning on selling the phone cause i got the SII, so I tried to factory reset it...and now im bricked (phone wont turn on, cant get the screen or LED to light up). Is this the same as going from s-off to s-on? it wont boot up or anything now..

the phone was recognized by the computer as QHSUSB_DLOAD, but I downloaded some drivers and now it sees it as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM8)...im guessing this is the same thing?

I've been following this thread daily, and now i see that Dex is releasing either today or tomorrow so i just want to be sure im eligible for un-bricking.

thanks for your time!
Hi,may I know what drivers do you install?..when you phone showed up as QHSUSB_DLOAD, does it show that no driver is installed?
