Thank you for your hard work.

What about Desire S? Will the same procedure work for it? Where I can find the required files for this phone?

I have a bricked sensention 02 brand and ubuntu

[email protected]:~$ ./brickdetect.sh
Searching for bricked device...
The bricked device is on
sdb
Use the above node to perform operations using the emmc_recover tool
[email protected]:~$ sudo ./emmc_recover --backup b_hboot.img --device /dev/sdb12
[sudo] password for a:

You need to plug it in when it says "Waiting device /dev/sdb12......." not before

RUU

Anybody have a link to the most recent RUU that can be used with the CM7 Alpha ROM? I bricked using Euroskank CM9 Nightlies, so I'd rather get it up and running with CM7 at first. I don't want to use the wrong file and botch the whole thing.

EDIT:

here is my terminal output:

[email protected]:~$ ./brickdetect.sh
Searching for bricked device...
The bricked device is on
Use the above node to perform operations using the emmc_recover tool

it's not showing sbX anything. any idea why?

Thanks I solved I had to reboot the PC every time the guide said to unplug and replug. now the phone turns into fastboot, now I must necessarily reflash the o2 branded ruu or I can reflash a no brand ruu?
1 million thanks

It seems you bricked ur device by formatting the sd-card within CM9 (OpenSensation)
Its not recoverable using this unbricking method .. but if you didn't brick it that way, try to disable automount

I flashed the CM9 euroskank nightly, but I didn't flash any firmware or radio or anything first. I never did before and it ran just fine. Booted up and ran better than ever. I picked up my phone to use it about 20 minutes later and it wouldn't boot up and was extremely hot. I never got a chance to play around with any menus and certainly didn't try to format my sd. Gut feeling tells me its got something to do with incorrect firmware, but I've never checked in on what the effects would be if that were the case.

I'll check and see if automount is on. I'm using the .iso linked to in the OP via virtualbox.

EDIT: Nope. I did have automount turned on, but it's off now. I get the same response whether anything is plugged in to the PC or not. Bummer. Thankfully I've got a friend that has another Sensation with a cracked screen she'll give me, so not all is lost. I can replace the screen on hers and restore my backup from my SD, but I'd feel like I was cheating on my device.

Any thoughts on what I may be doing wrong to connect?

Hello there.

What is an RUU? Also could I do this with Ubuntu?

Also will this unbrick method work for the SD card formatting error with CM9?

Thanks.

No, dexter93 has clarified that this unbricking project won't work for sd-card format bricks ... I bricked my phone the same way and now I'm trying to fix it using jtag

Rom Update Utility
It's in .exe format so unless it runs under WINE then you need to run it on a windows pc

Never use a virtual box when dealing with low level issues like this, its always safer, faster and overall much better to use a *Nix box or live CD for this. I would honestly say that the VM is causing the issue

^ this. Plus that there was a bug in some aosp roms (virtuous was one) that bricked permanently the phone after a reboot. That might be it. Anyway, try again using a linux box or livecd and please report if successful

Let us know how the jtag goes, this is my next project.

Also, is there something us AOSP bricks could try to get past the initial command

people that bricked their phones with aosp roms or any other way, need to contact their rom chiefs to find out what exactly went wrong. this thread is strictly for s-on bricks, since we know what was messed up.

Dex, update the OP with some bold style print, please :D
