The one I have that is bricked has S-Off and was done with revolutionary and I don't have an RUU for it. I do have the official PG58IMG.zip for the device. Am I SOL before I attempt to setup a linux machine? My windows machine recognized is at QHSUSB_DLOAD when plugged in but the battery light does not come on and it does nothing. Windows will recognize it as a Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9808 on COM 26. I ran Ubuntu Live 12 on a laptop and it does not recognize the device when running the command. I keep getting device can't be detected. Since it's showing up in windows is there a way to unbrick it from there>

You need Ubuntu version 10.04. It didn't work with higher version. Choose the 32 bit version.

You can download Ubuntu 10.04 32 bit here.

Also don't forget to disable automount in Ubuntu by doing this before trying anything.

Good luck my friend!

:)
How do you disable automount? Might be nice to have the instructions how to do that. I've got the recomended version installed on 2 different machines now and it won't recognize the phone but a windows PC does. I google how to do it but firefox keeps crashing whenever I click on something to find out how to do this.

I need help!!!!

I brickedmy HTC Sensation couple days ago while set the S-off (I did it a lot time before...)

After reading a lot I found out the I am in the QHSUSB_DLOAD mode

I followed the procedure in the thread:

Ubuntu 12.04 in VM installed
downloaded all programs and...

...finished all steps succesful and it ends up with ...
Flash image file is pyr1.27.nb0
Device is /dev/sdb12

Press ENTER if everything is correct, CTRL+C if not

Waiting device /dev/sdb12.......
Foundit!
dd: writing `/dev/sdb12': Input/output error
487+0 records in
486+0 records out
995328 bytes (995 kB) copied, 20.8752 s, 47.7 kB/s
Return code is 256
FAILED!!
[email protected]:/home/thorsten#

What has struck me in the video you can see the contents of the folder, I got as always;
You do not have the permissions necessary to view the contents of "57f8f4bc-abf4-0000-675f-946fc0f9f25b".

However, I have root access and could even perform all the steps before successfully?

Are there any 'ne way, or have I the first brick for 7 years and 6 PDAs (all rerooted)?!

Thorsten

edit: the manual says "No USB 3.0" after I tried it again on latop
saw it already looks better:

Waiting device /dev/sdb12.......
Foundit!
511+1 records in
511+1 records out
1047808 bytes (1.0 MB) copied, 6.34816 s, 165 kB/s
Return code is 0
Backing up partition /dev/sdb12 to file hboot_f.nb0
Backup ok
Okay
[email protected]:/home/thorsten#

But rejoiced too soon ... I can not start bootloader me screen is still black :( I had already destroyed by my first action?
Any ideas????

I thought this thread was dead since no one replied to me in 2 days
The thread isnt "dead". We just cant be in here 24/7

regarding your issue, how did you brick? and whats the state of yoour device atm?

@cwk_and : define "bricked". do you have hboot access?
@zayarln: is your brick type one of the supported ones? What distro are you using?

From what I remember it did have S-Off and he had virtuous inquisition on it. It's a co-workers I'm trying to fix. So right now it shows up on a windows PC as a QUSB_DLOAD but when I run the linux distro from the OP it does not recognize it at all. Not sure about how to disable automount if that makes a difference but when I was inside of linux googling it firefox kept crashing.

problems with sd card after jtag'ing...

I just Gøteborg my riff box, and i suksessfully unbricked a HTC sensation xe. No soldering needed.
Everything, but one smoothing does not work. The sd card slot does not work. Is this a common problem after jtag with riffbox ? Or could I have damaged it when I had to remove the simcard tray and sd card slot ?

This wont unbrick your device is the script cant find your phone. My guess is that its not the hboot that is corrupt and this method only works with hboot and fastboot oem writesecureflag 3 bricks

what Johny said. Although sometimes it *might* work even on S-OFF firmware bricks, due to a malfunction. It has been reported a couple of times, but whats causing it is not and can't be identified. But if the detect script won't find it after disabling automount, then you are out of luck

Whats the differences between (besides the common sense ones like CDMA vs GSM) the HTC devices and Samsung?

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note that throws the QHSUSB_DLOAD in device manager, the main difference is the device wont do anything else (no screen, no button response). My device only shows up as QHSUSB_DLOAD in the device manager, nothing else happens at all (buttons/screen/sd/sim/batt/charging), if that helps any...

You have my thanks either way (friend has a sensation, bookmarked, havent had to use yet).

Was just querying if there was any hope for non HTC devices. TYVM

This mode that we discovered might be unique to qualcomm based devices. Riff/jtag would still work for you though.

I know, it's frustrating to have a brick, but read the op, please. You can try and see, then let us know.
