Thanks for the reply.

I have read but the desire HD model is not in the list even if the project name is 'HTC Unbricking Project' and not particulary 'Sensation Unbricking Project'.

I will try maybe this week-end if I find the time to and will report after.

so the fact that this is posted in sensation forum doesnt count for anything? If it was generic, it would probably be in Android Software and Hacking forum or similar.
If your going to try this on your phone then you need to get a stock unmodded hboot file for your phone, do not use the one bundled because it is for sensation only

I know this but on DHD forum, on all brick related topics we can found an answer like "have you tried the unbrick project ?"

I'm working in computer science so I know I can't use the sensation file but would just try the same process.

And doesn't this forum the better place to talk with dev ?

My phone is correcty detected by linux and have launched the emmc --backup with success. But the hboot file have a null size. Is the emmc tool limited to the sensation (and other compatible phone listed in OP) ?

Again, I know i'm in wrong place but XDA is a place for share so please don't blame me. Maybe did you prefer I create a topic in DHD forum for all questions ? :D

Your hboot is located on a different partition. You will need to find which one and then modify the soft to default to that location.

quick question for anyone who can answer it.
so i have an HTC sensation 4g that was running jelly bean fine. for over a month. before that it had ics and many other roms. everything has worked fine. however, recently the battery died while running jelly bean (the kang one by bruce). so plugged it in but it wouldnt charge, no orange light either. thought maybe the battery was dead. tried a different battery. still no luck. cant boot it. cant power it on at ALL so cant get to recovery. plugging it into computer makes a weird noise as if its not recognized.
find out that it is QHSUSB_DLOAD

im assuming this guide will not work on this phone because it was not bricked while turning s-on but how the hell did it get bricked by the batter just dying?
blows my mind so if anyone can enlighten me, id appreciate it.

Oh yes! I read about this problem in lieu of trying to find a solution to unbrick my one x. Unfortunately, this isn't my issue, but it seems suitable to fix your phone.

I hope that does it for you.

Hello,

I do not know how but my phone /Sensation/ get out from QHSUSB and now I can go to hboot.
I leave it for few days with battery pulled and yesterday I've tried and it powered up and loaded HTC logo. It was never S-OFFed
I have unlock bootloder with HTCDEV and flashed RUU.
The Hboot is now 1.27, but I can not boot in to the ROM or Recovery.
I have flashed custom recovery CWM and 4EXT few times but still can't get to boot in recovery. Flshing is successful and I get OK but then can't boot in it.
I think that there is some problem with partitions but I do not know what.
Some ideas?

This is the tread that i started in Q&A section and after help there I flashed the RUU.

Bricked Sensation 4g?? Help please.

I seem to be at a dead end with a bricked Sensation 4g. First of all I want to point out that I have been researching & trying to fix this problem for 4 days, so please save the unhelpful "go research it" posts. I cannot go any farther alone (despite the fact that I pretty much haven't gotten anywhere at all anyhow!)

I bricked it trying to return S-on. After finding this [Unbrick] thread I tried to meet the "Prerequisites" as follows:

-I downloaded & installed "a linux box/live cd" from the link in Post #2 on this thread.
-I have no previous experience with Linux. Although I researched the issue for many hours resultsover the last few days, I could not find a successful method that ensured the "automount disabled." When I google-searched how to do that I found that I need to first install "dconf-editor." [Would have been nice were that step included in the instructions here.] When attempting to install dconf [Terminal > sudo apt-get install dconf-tools] I get the following message:

"Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Couldn't find package dconf-tools"

So I searched the web [for hours] trying to find a download of "dconf-tools"... Very long-story-short: I could not find a copy that would work with this version of Ubuntu. Moving on...

I also could not figure out how to remove "unity" (nor could I figure out if Unity is even in this version of Ubuntu that I downloaded from Post #2!), once again, all despite the fact that I researched the issue/procedures for several hours. Short version: I google-searched how to remove unity. Found several promising pages with various Terminal commands to accomplish this task, as well as suggestions how to remove unity via other methods. One notable method instructed I could remove "unity" by command [Terminal > sudo apt-get purge unity] which got me the following response:

"Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Couldn't find package unity"

None of the various methods to remove unity worked for me. Moving on...

-I downloaded "the appropriate package for the device" [32-bit version] from Post #2.
-I downloaded "the latest RUU for [my] device" -- or at least got the one that matched the stock/branded [3.2.4] ROM that I was running before all this trouble began
-My Sensation 4g is "a device bricked by writing security flag 3 with an unsigned hboot"
-I'm using a working "usb cable"
-I had no "basic linux experience" prior to finding this thread 3 days ago when I first downloaded Ubuntu from Post #2
-I have had "patience" dealing with and researching this issue for the last 3 days, but I am running low on it at this point.

I followed the instructed procedures in Post #2 and got the results that follow:

1. I "Boot the linux box and download the appropriate package for the device."

2. I "Extract the package in the home directory"

3. I "Open up a terminal"

4. I "Remove SIM, microSD card and battery and connect the device using the USB cable...proced[ing] without battery

5. I attempt to "Detect the device using the script provided" and come to a dead end because the device cannot be detected.

Ultimately my guess is that my issues are caused by the fact that I could not find a way to ensure that "Automount" is disabled, nor could I find a way to "remove unity". Step by step instructions would be greatly appreciated.

This method is done on a LiveCD of Ubuntu 12.04 (32-bit) without disabling automount & without removing unity:

The simple logic is to access the device before automount kicks in, which is why the USB cable is removed & reconnected right when the command is fired or when emmc_recover is waiting for the device.

Before you try this, ensure that you have removed the sim, battery & sd card from the phone as mentioned in the instructions.
If you are still unable to get the device recognized, even after timing the disconnect-reconnect properly, then put in your phone battery, remove the USB cable, hold down the power button for 30 sec & then remove the battery, connect the USB cable & try again.

Use the stock HTC cable that came with your phone.
Don't use USB 3.0 ports or USB hubs or extensions.

Exact same thing happened to me. Once my battery died my phone never booted again no matter what battery I tried. The charging LED wouldnt come on for me either. Is that the same with you? Because it turned out the micro USB port got fried. (dont know how that affected my phone booting up though but weirdly it affected it) Even though I was s-off unlocked supercid and had sense 4 installed (lol) carphone warehouse fixed it for me under warranty. Maybe you have the same problem.

Thats not bricked and this is the wrong place to ask about this. Also you should probably use the search function - similar questions like this have been answered many, many times before. If you still need help after that then go to the [HELP Thread] in Sensation Q&A

Thank you for your help, but unfortunately none of this method [which I had already tried] worked.

Ultimately I got some great LIVE help here: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=helpmenow&uio=d4
and, after a little bit of discussion, I was directed to download an ICS RUU. I reflashed & problem solved. Although I am now S-ON again.
*Unfortunately the exact nature of my problem was never explained to me. So I don't know what was actually wrong.

I clicked on the link, it brought me to a live support site, kind of like instant messaging format. At the top of the page it asks you to explain the hardware (phone, ROM, version, etc.) that you are using, and then explain the problem you are having. The first person I worked with didn't/couldn't help me. The next person asked me a few more questions about the problem that I was dealing with. Then he just posted a RUU (including ICS ROM) file for me to download, told me to try it and come back later & message him if I was still having problems. The RUU worked and my phone is completely fixed--better than new running ICS.

Needless to say, I am very grateful. After 6 years of modding my smartphones I really thought I had my first brick. Happy that I can still say I've never bricked a phone!

How did you detect your device to flash your ruu? Any help would be appreciated!

How to flash a RUU properly

1. Make sure you have uninstalled Htc Sync and that you have HTC fastboot drivers installed.

2. Connect your device into a USB2.0 port. 3.0 ports and hubs cause issues

3. Connect the device into fastboot mode.

4. Verify it's on fastboot using
Code:
fastboot devices
5. Reboot in RUU mode
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
6. Erase cache
Code:
fastboot erase cache
7. Flash the RUU either by starting the RUU.exe, or flashing the rom.zip

Hmm so the ruu worked? (well it should)
Good to know :D
Unbricking project is for ppl who can't even boot the phone.. Not even to the bootloader... And you obviously don't fall in that category
