The app is set up to require a password to uninstall, but apparently it doesn't always work. The uninstall process is supposed to prompt you for a password to uninstall it, but sometimes it just removes the app name from the remove apps list and you're screwed. Here's what I posted on their "Get Satisfaction" forum (I just had to put it here in case they deleted it.)
I put a replacement sim card in the phone thinking it would read the data on it, rather than the card ID tself. Whups. At least now I can use my phone without typing my interminable Sprite Terminaor password.
OK. I got it. I installed and uninstalled the newest version. I don't think that did anything necessarily, but if it did, I thought I should include it. The unistall of the newer version worked/prompted for password on uninstall.
I ran the sprite backup uninstaller, searched my PPC files ( with PPC Total Commander) and registry ( with DotFred's Task Manager) and deleted anything that was left after uninstall (there was a lot
) that said sprite on it (except the shortcut I have in a folder other than the default folder, which turns ito the default icon if the app, more or less, really isn't there).
Then I discovered that it was in fact the Windows Mobile default password applet that had been enabled, so I disabled the password/PIN entirely. I thought it was very interesting when I went in to the applet that PIN was selected, but it was in fact requiring a password - the one from Sprite Terminator.
Nee ner.
And since you can't do this without the password, umteen times, I think I'll do a little copy paste of this post.
