Sadly my Note 3 was stolen while I'm cruising so I can't even do the sim switch. Now I'm trying to decide whether to grab something off Swappable or throw myself onto mercy from VZW. Don't want to loose unlimited!

Did anyone else try the BB method with success? jamor414? On a side note, I just got a replacement Note 3 (my old one stopped charging) and it actually had 4.4.2 on it! Pleasantly surprised...
I've read a few success posts so far. I haven't tried it myself though. I was waiting for the V10 to come to Best Buy but time is running out.

Another option is to call VZW and ask them to apply the loyalty 100 minute or 100 text promo to your plan. It will extend your contract for 1 year and you'll be able to avoid the $20/month increase for unlimited data.

I called this morning and the CSR was successfully able to add the promotion. Checked My Verizon and my account, which had been out of contract since 2013, was now under contract until 10/27/16 (rep backdated the promo to match my billing cycle date). Promo is listed as:

LOYALTY 100 MINS X 12MOS 1YR 10/27/2015 10/27/2016

Thinking about giving this a whirl...

Anyone use the Best Buy trick within the last week? The V10 has multiple promotions going right now. Through BB you get a 24" LG TV and through LG you'll get a 200g SD card, extra battery and battery charger.

Is there anyway to put the rest of my family on one of the new tiered plans while keeping me on unlimited?

Does the best buy trick still work? I have a family plan with 4 lines and unlimited data on all lines. Can I use the Best Buy trick on just ONE line or do I need to do it on all 4 lines?

Thanks

all four lines. because the other three won't be under contract so they can hike those ones up.

BB has the Note 5 for $49.99...anyone gonna bite and see if they keep their unlimited?
Should work if it has replaceable sim card. I would be more concerned about having unlocked boot loader available which is unlikely though I have no idea. And of course at the least, root access.

if you did the BB trick and your bill remained 29.99 does that only work if done before 11/15?
Correct...unless you're on a contract (very doubtful) then it *should* work until your contract ends. Or until Verizon closes that loophole so you can't renew your current contract if you still have unlimited data. I still have unlimited data...but have been off contract for over 2 years.

And I paid full price for my Note 3 two years ago.

Yeah with PdaNet+ (aka foxfi). I forgot how much it costs, but it has been working for me fine. Every once in awhile Verizon blocks it and then they update the app to counteract it. This app does not require root.

I'm not even on Verizon anymore. I'm on SimpleMobile (uses t-mobile), but I still have to use PdaNet+ to activate hotspot :/...

I use foxfi with or without Root I use it all the time perfectly legal if Google Play Store allows you to download it if...... it was legal I'm pretty sure they would have removed it from the store on Verizon Wireless is request give a shot you might like it

Verizon used to have GooglePlay block apps like FoxFi, but a few years ago, the FCC ordered them to no longer block those apps. Verizon's new unlimited data plan includes tethering so no additional fees. Under the old unlimited plan, the fee was $1/day and you could turn it on and off any time you wanted. Several of the ROMs (in particular Jasmine) had/have the "fixed" hotspot that didn't check with Verizon first so no need for FoxFi anyway.
