OVERALL-Question

My All-Over-Question is - Did someone had already taken a look into the unlock.bin??

I mean... seriously, if this file is able to unlock the bootloader, maybe it's possible to edit it, that it's also usable for other LG G4 users(/country releases)?! - Am I the only one who came to this idea?

Next is... if this file is able to "UNLOCK" ... maybe it's possible to edit it to *LOCK* the Bootloader again?!

Why I had this Idea? - Because if this is possible, to crack this file - you stay *unrigistred* on LG-Developers and you can recover your warranty easy!

I won't also use the custome recovery - if it's possible to install SU (root) without it, cuz I don't know how to deinstall TWPR (f.e.) - but it's needed to get back to factory-status, without every changes ;)!

I've rooted many different devices in the past from many different developers, but at all I do wondering the most, is the fact, that there's no serious complete "Roll-Back" option... only *unroot*-How2's.

The option, to make a BackUp of all System-Images would be a beginning, but mostly, this is only possible after the *unlock* of the bootloader^^ - kind of joke, if you remain, that (f.e.) W-Support(.com) is able to recover the System-Images without a breake of the Warranties (without the unlock of the bootloader)?! - So, I mean, there must be a way to communicate with the phone(s) which is currently unexplored(by XDA?).
This is XDA-Developers.com - and there's no equal to it - if XDA can't make this, who else could?! ;)

Especially because of the supported file by LG- DIRECTLY -I would be very interested on it, in sight of other devices which are currently *unsupported* by LG (to unlock the bootloader of cause!).

Is here a smart programmer, who found Attention on this file right now? - XDA, don't wait or waste time on some other explores, to get all other LG G4 users a way to root their phones - the key is the unlock.bin-file! It's nessecary, that is coded with the IMEI and ID, but if you were able to explorde the problem, you'll find a way to implement the needed changes for other users, of cause. In Fact, How2's will follow.

After all, I'm also not able to find my phone, even with the right drivers and that... I don't know why (?), but right now I wasn't that much interested in it - but - then this idea came up... so... what's up?
I want to root my phone, but it's that brand new, that I'm afraid of the warranty-lost... it's coupled to my mobile-provider, so I want to try to keep warranties - for sure. Otherwise, I'll wait until the next year, when I'm able to get a new phone and this one is already not anymore save by warranties.
By the way - it was repaired by LG... because the phone restarted by itself very often a day and something from the hardware inside was defect - before LG had taken a look into it, there was W-Support trying to fix it - without a result... after it came back to me, there was v10d-EUR-XX Software installed... can I flash it to the currently Android v5.1.1?? - THis update was availlable as I erned it at the very beginning, but now Software-Update is tellin me, that I'm already running the newest Software(?)! - But Android is v5.1 ... and that's strange!

Greetz to ya @ All!

My phone is brand new as well, hasn't even been a month but I had to root and unlock it, because I'm particular about the kind of font I use ... It's gonna be fine if you root if it was that dangerous LG wouldn't allow it's unlocking through its own website

Sent from my LG-H815 using XDA Free mobile app

That's not the question - until Android Marshmallow v6.0 isn't released for the H815, I wouldn't do something - otherwise I can't get the Update by PC-Software-Updtae (official) or the in-build function! - After Root, this is LOCKED.

The Question is, if the "unlock.bin" by LG is crackable to "lock.bin" and maybe compatible to be recoded for compatibility to other releases than H815 ;)! - The key to the success is within this file.

If i were you i would follow the steps written in the OP, then follow the steps of

this http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/repack-kernel-root-android-6-0-t3232387

or this http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/stock-h815-20a-stock-images-kdz-t3232282

I don't use the G4 anymore, so i won't be able to test it for you... although i am curious.. so might just try it out :good:

So I do have an unlocked bootloader on my H815. If I upgrade to MM can or can't I get root? Just boot into TWRP and then install root, right? Or is this not working on MM?

I'm on 20B not rooted. Now I have unlocked bootloader. I have tried to install TWRP via fastboot directly with:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
Flash went well.
But now when I enter the recovery I only get an image of a dead android with a red triangle on it.
So, just follow the guide in first post to flash correctly the recovery. It works fine even if I have MM 20B stock rom (with bootloader unlocked)

Hi,
I was going through the whole post, but this gets diifficult..
could you please tell me, if I can go with the tutorial safely if :
1. while back ago I changed DPI via adb ( so no root )
2. I got official Marshmallow update

and info regarding software :

I'd like to have unlocked bootloader, TWRP installed and of course rooted stock ROM

B&H Photo

It wasn't altogether clear from B&H's website which variant they were selling but since I live in NY I stopped by yesterday, and a very kind salesman had a box sent to the counter. I checked the label -- "PRT" (I assume Portugal) and bought it ($429). Took some doing but I'm rooted.

Thank you sooo much, this finally worked! Have the LG G4 (H815) since yesterday and couldn't flash the TWRP with the 'flash' command that was written in another guide. 'boot' did the trick. With TWRP and root i finally feel home again on the new device  Next time I'll just come to xda right away, clearest guides out there anyways :)

Have a nice weekend!

Booting TWRP via ADB and bootloader mode
I personally think this was the easiest way to be able to root and clean install TWRP. Be sure your TWRP is in the folder.
1. Launch CMD from the folder (hold shift, right click the folder)
2. type (again) :
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
3. once your phone reboots and is in bootloader mode type :
Code:
fastboot boot TWRP2861.img
the new name of the file
or
Code:
fastboot boot p1.img
if you didn't rename it.
4. now you will reboot into TWRP.

Once you have rebooted into the OS you will find the SuperSu app. Download the TWRP manager just to have it handy. And now i would install the TWRP file you have copied on your phone with flashify. I think it's a great tool.
2 ways to do it:
1. locate the file, click on it and choose to open with flashify then choose recovery and follow the steps
2. find the file via flashify and install.
(Don't download TWRP for H815 in the TWRP manager or Flashify as they are not fixed by @wolfgart (correct me if I am wrong))

once all this done and rebooted. Your phone will have TWRP and would be Rooted. Choose the TWRP manager to boot into recovery when you want.
Why I need install TWRP 2 times? Do I will use same .img file?

Fastboot boot does not install recovery, but I cannot see why you could bot use fastboot flash. I guess there is some G4 specific reason though..

edit: apparently some people have used fastboot flash recovery, and it works.

hi.

i have my g4 (europe) for months now. i had it unlocked, root and so on ...
few weeks ago it was suddenly dead (problems reported by others in this forums too, but that isnt the point now).

now i got my phone back from lg, repaired.

i tried to unlock bootloader again, but LG says, that device-id unmatches ...
IMEI is the same (its the same device), but device-id changed after repair.

i have the old unlock.bin. can i use this one?
