the LG G4 is one of the most reliable phones ever made, you won't need a warranty if it has made it for a month with no problems - remember, we don't keep cell phones for 20 years, in fact, 3 is about the longest I have kept the same phone.

Isn't the USA t mobile version unlocked already?
No LG G4's are bootloader unlocked from the factory, the only LG G4's that can be bootloader unlocked currently are the international model H815, and even then, only the ones with European country codes as shown in my original post.

If you have an H815 but do not have the original box, either of these two free apps from Vietnam can tell you your country code:

yes the tmobile g4 is bootloader unlocked. no unlock.bin required like the international g4 unlock. tmobile V10 is also unlocked.
Does this require the LG Bootloader Unlock tool then, or just checking the OEM Unlock dev option and following the Nexus 5/6 commands? (adb reboot bootloader, fastboot devices, fastboot oem unlock)?

no unlock tool from LG is required. it's just using oem unlock. but since there is no fastboot... even when unlocked there's no way to flash TWRP onto the device without having root or using an exploit. so it uses the g4 root method to instead to install twrp. check the tmobile g4 dev section for specific details on how to install twrp.

I'm actually on the US991 US Cellular G4, but there's so little changed from factory stock and the OEM unlock option still exists in the developer options. I'm just trying to determine if this device is just such a small portion of the G4 pool that it's been overlooked - or does everyone still show the option in the developer tools? I know my girlfriend's S5 doesn't, but Samsung is a weird creature to me.

I've also got an LG Tribute 2 which I got just to play with adb tools with and I know it can be unlocked the same way, I believe flashify was required to install custom recovery/TWRP. Just making absolutely certain I cannot get the bootloader unlocked and TWRP installed.

only way to know for sure if you're bootloader unlocked is to enable OEM unlocking in dev settings, root then flash TWRP (either H815's or H811's) to the recovery partition and try to boot into TWRP. if unlocked.. twrp will boot. if not unlockable.. you'll get a security boot error. Mke sure to backup stock recovery just in case you need to put it back on the phone if unlock is unsuccessful. You'll still be able to boot back into android whether it works or doesn't so there's no risk here.

I think the OEM Unlock option is also related to Google's Factory Reset Protection... it's mentioned here https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/6172890?hl=en

Pretty sure USCC's G4 is bootloader locked tho... and OEM Unlock will just be for FRP things.

You're likely correct, but if it gets slow at work this week and there's no risk then, well, I get bored so I'll give it a go. Thanks for the info, it's appreciated, as is all your work with the G4. I just injected root into the 10D image at the request of someone on XDA, so I'll be getting that on my phone tomorrow. Being on call prevents any lengthy tinkering, so until Friday I basically can only work with the phone while I'm at work. If somehow it is unlockable I'll let you, though like you said, it was never listed as an unlocked bootloader by LG, but I want to believe.

I have the same one, at the moment it is not unlockable but you can root Lollipop - v10 - stock firmware then use flashfire to flash cm12.1 and gapps

I would love to guide you, but from what I have read - all 100 odd pages of the cm13 forum - you need to have the unlocked bootloader as you need to boot into the stock mm before you go back into recovery and flash cm13, the modem and bootloader. I have considered trying with flashfire and doing this:

* Flash v20a.zip
* Flash cm13.zip
* Flash Bootloader
* Flash Modem

but I am worried that I may destroy my device and I need to keep it. Maybe read through the cm13 forum so you know whats going on and then decide if you want to try what i have just said. There is no guarantee that it will work though.

Sincerely,
A fellow flashaholic.
