Bump for exposure.

Can someone who has got their phone unlocked from Sprint and are rooted, please grab the 'Carrier' folder and upload it. This is how the unlock for G2 was engineered and I was hoping same is true in case of G3.
TIA.

Yeah! Working!!)))

Also - from G2 method - no need to use Shortcut master and etc! After replacing files and rebooting simply go to Settings - Roaming - APN (lowwww down) and you're there!!))

AND ALSO - to remove Sprint garbage - rename next files from folders /system/priv-app and /system/app :
Activation.apk ==> Activation.apk.bak
SprintExtensionProvider.apk ==> SprintExtensionProvider.apk.bak
SprintID.apk ==> SprintID.apk.bak
SprintTouch.apk ==> SprintTouch.apk.bak
Zone-Sprint.apk ==> Zone-Sprint.apk.bak
OmaDmclient.apk ==> OmaDmclient.apk.bak
SPR_Skyfire_Observer.apk ==> SPR_Skyfire_Observer.apk.bak
SPR_Skyfire_Toolbar.apk ==> SPR_Skyfire_Toolbar.apk.bak
Vtt-Sprint.apk ==> Vtt-Sprint.apk.bak
xtra_t_app.apk ==> xtra_t_app.apk.bak

I have made this unlock from a phone, which was unlocked from sprint.
I have only removed all the files and folders, which where empty or the same. And then there were only this two files.

Any chance you could upload the whole carrier folder of yours. I am assuming your phone was activated on Sprint already. The people who buy the phones that weren't activated on Sprint didn't have the Wi-Fi Hotspot option in the GSM mode on the G2 until they copied over files to the carrier folder from a Sprint activated phone.

I don't know if it is the same with the G3 as I haven't got mine in my hands yet, but I want to be ready and a complete folder gives me and others a better chance to get it working properly.

TIA.

I was able to get them by copying g2 files and overriding the 2 files from here

I have tried replacing the files, my phone gets the gsm signal but a message keep popping up "unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped". I have an LG G3 sprint with bad ESN. Once i put my sim card out, the error message no longer appears. I am from Mauritius and i am on a local network. I rooted my phone with stumproot.

Just root and edit build.prop change SPR to OPEN...done..HSPA with T-Mobile and HSPA+ with AT&T
Is it really that simple? No apn changes or anything? I gotta know cuz you just peaked my curiosity now. :)
And this is with a Sprint G3?

Edit. I'm curious for ROM building to cross brands. ie ATT, Tmo etc

Where to check permissions?
What permissions should be checked?

To remove hands free activation, your phone should be rooted
1. Download and install Root Browser from playstore
2. Ooen root browser
3. then go system folder
4.Open privapp
5. Rename all sprink apk, Setup Wizard.apk, and Self Service.apl to bak.
6.reboot

Have you change the files in carrier by the one provided or you have simply change ro.build.target_operator=SPR to OPEN or both.

I have done both, now i have gsm signal but no h or g or e symbol.

After u change SPR to OPEN use APN Manager app from play store..make app system app with titanium backup pro..move app from system app to priv-app...then it allows u to add your on APN

And all I did was change that one line in build.prop to unlock phone for GSM use
