I got my Sprint G3 up and running on ATT getting HSPA+ by:

1 - Went back to complete stock with http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...de-how-to-restore-sprint-lg-g3-ls990-t2852042
2 - used stump to root
3 - used bump to install TWRP recovery
4 - Installed CloudyG3 1.1 Rom
5 - Used app (Rom Toolbox Lite) to edit build.prop
6 - Used app (Tellnfo) to select LTE/GSM/WCDMA.... only need this for the first time, then you can go to Mobile Network in settings and manually select after that.
I found the details on steps 5 and 6 here: (I know this is for a G2, but it worked great for my G3) http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/help/sprint-cloudy-g3-1-3-data-fix-t2855808

So far so good using my ATT SIM in my Spring G3 seems to work great and gets good speeds (not LTE, but very usable).

You did about 4 steps too many. Reflash, custom recovery, and custom ROM not needed. Of course, if you want a custom ROM on your phone, that's perfectly fine :)

I recently traveled abroad and the build.prop changes did not work right away - at least when I was outside the US. The key point was to not have the phone get any sort of Sprint provisioning (which was easy since I wasn't in the US). Once it failed the provisioning from Sprint and I was able to change the build.prop - the gsm sim worked right away and the signal bars were accurate as well.

After a little bit of playing around I was able to get my g3 on Straight Talk. Idk what the one dude was talking about not making the edits to the build.prob but that crap didn't work. Anyways I am 100 now!!!

I just flashed cloudy and the only thing I had to do was put the phone in airplane mode turn on wifi download network from the market select cmda/gsm/lte and everything works. I didn't have to change the build.prop I didn't have to mess with the dailer or the apn either.

Yep that sounds about right. Flashing any international / non - sprint version of the G3 rom or even AOSP rom's like Cyanogenmod will unlock it. The lock is basically software based by Sprint and not a hardware lock so its fairly easy flash any rom other than the Sprint stock rom and get it unlocked. Those rom's come with their own build.prop so you are modifying the build.prop in a way even if the end user doesn't have to do it manually.

Use the carrier folder of G2 unlock, replace it in your G3 root, then use the G3 unlock files copy it in /carrier/apps/ folder, reboot.

Root - > BUMP the phone - > install TWRP
Then install CloudyG3 rom for LS990. That should fully unlock the phone and make it simple to use GSM sim cards.
Much much much too complicated.

Root and one simple edit to the build.prop is all that's needed

Can you get more into specifics. Tutorial type. I have two sprint lg g3's and I rather mod to use on tmobile rather then sell and buy new tmobile g3's. I know my phones are in perfect condition and would like to keep them. Thanks in advance. There's a few different procedures here and it would be awesome if someone could make one definitive option for everyone with a US sprint g3.
