Same here, my first switch to lg, been a Samsung user, got bored of the phone pretty fast, I can't root it I can't do anything, I may go back, if samsung do not lock bootloader.oh god, tired of waiting................. curse u LG

Back to Samsung? Why not? Samsung brought the SD card slot on s7, that's the only reason I chose lg g4 rather than s6.

I've been playing the waiting game far too long for Samsung.
Idc* if it's ATT's fault. Samsung has failed me for the last time.
I've given up on following if Samsung's gonna let the bootloaders unlocked on the U.S. carriers. I have no idea what's going on over there anymore.

Got tired of waiting , i've been an LG user since the G2 but this time around LG messed up pretty bad .sold my G4 H815P and bought a Huawei Mate 7, while i do miss the sharpness of the qHD screen and a better camera ,i enjoy the Mate 7 battery life , +6.5 hrs SOT on average on stock MM, bigger screen real estate , rooted and last but not least, no bootloop issue to be worried about (my G4 was not under warranty anymore)

This thread is 8 months old. Rather somewhat contrary to "on its way" for most folks. It should be closed or deleted. What a joke, this is never gonna happen.
I just put my g4 on the shelf got me a tmobile type varient of the sylo has root and twrp. Sucks not having ir port thought
But... I Think they already did it. Many lg phones have been unofficially unlocked by flashing a patched aboot.
Can I ask, who? Those who flashed that aboot got their phone bricked, there's no unofficial unlock
I know för sure that the LG Spirit H440n was unofficially unlocked. Coming back soon with link.

Yes, but I think that the security parameters of all those LG phones that were released around the same period with LP (Spirit/G4/G Flex 2) are the same. Aren't they? Couldn't the same guy use the same method for G4? If I'm so mistaken... I'm sorry.
He made a aboot patch for g flex 2 and g4 already but it bricked the phones.. this cannot be implemented due to present arm trustzone on flagship devices
Yeah, looks like @adds08 is right. I think LG didn't bother to pay Qualcomm for proper Secure Boot on Spirit since it's a midrange device and Secure Boot was then essentially turned off the whole time if I'm right.

DirtySanta bootloader unlock was present before christmas last year (so the name)..
In this method the team used a debug build phone's aboot.img ... Meaning that someone bought a device that has bootloader unlocked because it was a debug/test device..
DirtyElf is essentially a (something like child) of DirtySanta .It converts the mentioned variant to the unlockable variant via DirtySanta and then does the DirtySanta on it..
I have requested many people to see if they can get debug/test build phones on latest update so that we can have bootloader unlock on the specified devices but no luck..
