From a fresh Xperia Ray to CM7.

Hi all, sorry for being a noob here, but I was wondering... I have a brand new, SIM-locked Xperia Ray. I want to put CM7 or MIUI on it.

I noticed that Sony Ericsson offers an official bootloader-unlock method, but as some of you have said, it has issues.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me the order in which I should be doing things (as I still need to get my phone sim-unlocked, as well) in order to get my phone to have CM7 on it.

I've put CM on my old Desire-Z and Touchpad, but it seems to be a little more complicated with the Ray...

Thank you so much!

I'd get it Sim unlocked first - Jinx13 and other users will do this (along with the bootloader unlocking) for a small sum of money remotely over the internet. You'll have to plug it in, unplug it and press a paperclip or similar to the testpoint but apart from that it's relatively straight forward.

Hi, I also too just bought a new ray and sim locked to o2. I have just checked to see if my bootloader can be unlocked and it shows saying no instead of yes. Does this mean it is already unlocked? Thanks and hi everyone

My lt15i is sim unlocked, and using the code i can see that my bootloader can be unlocked.

So using the testpoint method and s1tool work for unlocking the bootloader of my phone without the loss of DRM keys?

Blue led comes when i press up the menu button and connect the handset to the pc.

Just flash that file with flashtool (don't forget to wipe/data, either in your recovery before flashing or with flashtool when you select the file), all your data will be lost (you can backup it with some softwares) but you'll return on stock rom !

pardon me, noob question, if after this "return on stock rom", will it re-lock?

Do the device that ongoing the "test point" method, could be re-locked back to original state, and so are the warranty still available

thanks

AFAIK gan, if back to stock it won't relock the bootloader. but BLAGUS on Xperia Play has some source on that matter, might be useful to relock the bootloader.

For me, i won't use this mod while my guarantee still up or second, i'm waiting for anybody who reports that ICS update is successful with this mod. if the second issue works, i'll try this for the name of OCing.. ;)

So, need to confirm (for unbranded Xperia)
un-lock and re-lock without losing DRM, we still VOID the warranty ?
-- or --
GOD only know what we unlock yesterday....
SE service center would NOT know what we do (oprek) last time....
and Warranty still exist (ini yg penting gan) :D

Looks like for our country, it doesn't matter, bring to them and they give a new one? Hoping they are noobie too.. That's still the black art of modding so yeah i think if we're talking SE warranty, it is void, but if we're talking distro warranty, in BB country like ours, they might replace it brand new :p but yeah.. no messing from me for a while.. 1Ghz still enough for majority of games, and have u tried Supercharger? that improves the performance quite a lot so try to use my Tutorial first maybe.. ;)
