I don't know what will happens to phones who are locked to carriers if they unlocked their bootloader.I thought you can't as mine was sim locked to o2 and I couldn't unlock mine without sim unlocking it. I had to pay unfortunately.

Thanks but I already take some bravery and at last, i updated the firmware to .62 from SEUS (at least in Indonesia). And this method indeed does not brick the phone, i confirm that..this soft is not available for Xperii Ray

Well, if you want to talk in strict manner, yes it will void your warranty. But for the uninformed, it won't be recognized by them and warranty might still apply.if i use this method for unlock bootloader i lost the warranty but, the phone doesn't say that is unlocked, so with original rom i can send phone for repair. right?
i'm sorry for my bad english![]()
If you buy second hand yes there is a chance. Otherwise no, you got locked bootloader.Hi,
My phone is carrier unlocked, bought from a HK seller on eBay.
Are all Xperia Rays sold in the market bootloader locked?
Is there a chance that mine is bootloader unlocked?
If yes, how can I know my bootloader status (locked or unlocked)?
(Dialing *#*#7378423#*#* tells me that it is allowed to unlock...)
I do have experience receiving OTA from .42 to .62 with unlocked bootloader (with this method ofc). And it worked right away.Anyone used the Repair feature in S1tool yet? Just wondering if it works.. one site I saw said it "should work" and that you dont need to use testpoint to repair bootloader (Relock) so it would just be plug in fastboot mode.. but anyone actually tried?
Also wanna know if anyone has done an OTA update or with SEUS/PC companion with their bootloaders unlocked with this method.. I mean actually done it.. I've heard from heaps of people that this also "Should" work but havn't found anyone who has actually done it.
Cheers
Kiwi
That's great news! I'm slowly sifting through all the forums and working out myth from fact.. There is so much rubbish on here about bootloaders! Thanks for your help!I do have experience receiving OTA from .42 to .62 with unlocked bootloader (with this method ofc). And it worked right away.
About repair button, i haven't tried that but without any issue with OTA update, relock is kinda unnecessary..![]()
Insert battery after the whole process is done.I don't understand in guide .. Where do we insert battery? Or we don't need battery to be inserted?
Oh ۔ This means my phone will be detected by PC without battery?Insert battery after the whole process is done.
Yes the phone without battery is recognized by USB power alone as ZEUS Flash Device. Point is, Keep battery AWAY while doing this.Oh ۔ This means my phone will be detected by PC without battery?
No you just need a straightened paperclip, and connect between testpoint to negative pin of battery connector (since battery is not present so you can connect the testpoint to battery connector on phone). No need to bind wire to USB cable. Remember, only test point and negative pin that is needed.Secondly, can't i use two nails or needles and join them together with copper wire to make it act like test point?
I mean it's basically connecting point 1 with point 2... so why is a USB shield used in method two?
And the same USB shield connected with wire will be inserted in USB port of phone connected too PC?
