25-7-2012 19:15:24 PLEASE ATTACH TURNED OFF PHONE NOW
25-7-2012 19:15:24

It has been on this screen for a solid 20 minutes and my laptop is not that slow so something isnt happening right. At the step before it said it should notify you of new hardware and install the driver itself but i havnt seen this happening. When i look at the hardware under miscellaneous hardware (litterly translated from dutch) it states S1Loader Flash without the drivers being installed i guess this causes the problem? Anything i can do to fix this..

edit: After directing the hardware to update the driver with the driver used to update the first time it works right away!

LOG:

Welcome to S1 tool.
That is small and crippled subset of SETOOL2 service tool.

DETACH USB CABLE FROM PHONE
REMOVE BATTERY FROM PHONE
ATTACH TESTPOINT
PRESS "READY", THEN ATTACH USB CABLE TO PHONE

PROCESSING ...
REMOVES TESTPOINT NOW, THEN PRESS "READY"

qcReceivedPacket: can't get packet start.
Elapsed:23 secs.

*I've read that it's not possible with 12w17 (only 12w14 below)
*Devices with 12w17 always get this error qcReceivedPacket: can't get packet start.

Hope they find solutions for this. Thanks

Just a quick question, and sorry if it's a repeat, I can't seem to find my answer in the thread.

After checking Service Info | Configuration | Rooting Status, mine says "Bootloader unlock allowed:No" (It's a Telus branded phone)

Does this mean I can NOT proceed with this S1tool method to unlock the bootloader?

Thanks!

Yes you can't. TestPoint and Official Method won't do.

RUNNING S1_EROM VER "R9B031"
SOFTWARE AID: 0001
LOADER AID: 0001
FATAL ERROR [ SECURITY_CLASS, SIN_header_verification_failed ]
error while uploading HDR block
LOADER NOT STARTED
Elapsed:46 secs.

when I tried to unlock bootloader, this message is what I get.. What is the problem now?
Do not try to unlock your bootloaders if your EROM version is R9B031.
There is at least one report from someone who bricked his device.

Always IDENTIFY in the s1tool first if your phone has an appropriate EROM or not.
You can also dial *#*#7378423#*#* go into Service info > Software info > "S1 Boot Version:"
Also check under Service info > Configuration if "Rooting status: Bootloader unlock allowed:" says Yes or No.

I guess we'll have to wait for an updated s1tool which is capable of patching the newer phones.
Until then this method is not working anymore on those.

Please post your version if it was working for you.
So far these EROM versions have been reported to be working:
R9A021 (version on my own phone)
R4A062

Hi,
that means the bootloader erom Version is the main reason for unlocking is successfull and not the buil date like 11w35
12w14 seems to be the production date from which on Sony is using new EROM. So, both facts are somehow connected.
Since yours was built earlier, it should work.. what does your phone show when you dial the service code?

i once used this method to unlock my ray, did everything as they told me(checking it was unlockable, etc..)for some reason(even without overclocking!!) a week after i unlocked it my wifi, bluetooth AND gps were not able to activate after i rebooted my phone. Then i thaught back about the weird things that had happend, immediately after the unlocking my phone had problems booting up, and it restarted by itself regularly. i tried to fix it, have worked days on it, flahsed the rom, then back to gingerbread, repaired several times with pc companion and even seus didn't work. i sent it to sony for repair, they sent it back still with that same issue 2 times!! the 3th time they gave me a new ray for free :p i didn't have my phone from beginning may 2012 until august(about 2 weeks ago). i was lucky becouse i didn't paid a single euro to them, even dough my bootloader was unlocked :p lucky me. Just trying to say, be carefull with this!! i thaught nothing would happen with my ray and still... it did. Not trying to ruin this thread, just warning everyone to be carefull ;) unlocking bootloaders can damage hardware faster than you would expect

Greetings from belgium ;p(and sorry if my english s****)

Google is your friend. So far i was only able to find reports that it didn't work but those could be based on wrong execution of the process how to do it.
So, can't give you a definite answer to your question. You can take the risk or not.
By the way, what does it show under "Configuration" instead of "Software info" when you dial into the service menu? Is "Rooting status: Bootloader unlock allowed:" Yes or No?

hi,
if i send my phone to sony will they see that the bootloader is unlocked,
because the name is r9A028 and not R9A028?
-> if i unlock my phone with tp can sony check these, and refuse the repair?
Greetings and thx a lot

My EROM version is R9B031 and i've unsuccesfully tried the test point method, got "packed data can`t get started" error.
So i cannot unlock bootloader in any way, nor with official sony method?
thanks
