Razer already stated it would be an unlocked bootloader. Can't find video but it's mentioned in one of the first hands on

To me, that sounds more like that it is going to be unlockable but it won't shipped unlocked.
It ships _carrier unlocked_ (sim).
Bootloader is unlocked by the user in dev options on the phone, should the user so choose to do so. Voids the warranty.
Rooting the phone is up to the user, but also voids the warranty, as the reply in the image says.

I do find the EU has better consumer protection than the US.
What companies can do here while taking your money? Uh ya, that's one reason I bet the USA is becoming a big laughing stock of the world.

YMMV But from what I've seen with a few other companies, if the repair is hardware related and not software they almost never actually care if its bootloader locked or not. Can't say Razer/Nextbit would be the same though.

Ya I've not dealt with razer for the laptops. I know for my mouse and keyboard record, they're good on responding, synapse updates happen fast enough to almost be annoying, hardware seems decent, though about 20% fails after the first year. (though I found out later the mouse doesn't actually fail, it's electric "char" that builds up on the metal switch internally because it's so thin)

Got the phone otw though, pretty excited. Can't wait for the analytics to start trickling in to see what we can do with this beast.

I have one already. It works. Just tried it. Bootloader unlocked.
Sweet! Thanks for uploading this.
Now if we can figure out how to root it while we wait for a TWRP Port.

Looks like all we need is a copy of the boot.img. Then we can patch it using Magisk.

That's not how you unlock the bootloader, that setting is part of the process and enables the ability for you to unlock the bootloader via fastboot.

I've made a thread on how to unlock the bootloader and linked it below

https://forum.xda-developers.com/razer-phone/how-to/guide-to-unlocking-bootloader-t3706462
You would not be able to select that option if the bootloader was unable to be unlocked. It unlocks the first key. If that key is unlocked, then fastboot oem unlock bootloader can work. So it is valid proof that it's unlockable.

Right, I didn't dispute that but he said "Bootloader unlocked" which at that point, it was not. If it was, that setting would be greyed out and it would say "Bootloader is already unlocked"
