your phone won't let you use a t-mobile sim because it is locked to at&t's network most likely. Just because you can get another network's phone software on your device doesn't mean it will allow you to use that network's sim without being sim unlocked.

Let us know if you are able to flash back to at&t firmware. I would like to flash canadian firmware on my at&t device but only if I can flash back to at&t if i need to.
I never thought it would sim unlock and understand the Sim lock. What I was looking for was the prompt when you put in the unlock code after popping in another SIM. I know I need to use an unlock service but there is no prompt to enter unlock code.

I am not looking to go back to AT&T right now as everything is setup perfect for me. Hopefully, someone else can chime in who tries and needs it more than I do. For anyone SIM locked on AT&T, when you put in another carrier sim does it ask for unlock code or says invalid sim like I am seeing in the Canadian firmware?

I unlocked my SIM by using the dialer code #7465625*638*# which prompted me for the unlock code

I have not been able to get back to full stock firmware with all the normal bloat and carrier splash screen. In reading lots of other posts others have had same problem.

Anybody been able to go completely back to stock?

I have a Frankenphone now that is locked to T-Mobile but has no T-Mobile splash screen or bloatware and this is after flashing the stock T-Mobile firmware with success.
You can go back using the latest version of Odin 3.12.5 or 7

It doesn't work

I have both versions. of ODIN. Flashing back the stock firmware does not put back the carrier bloatware and apps.

It passes the flash and I used the Userdata file.

Flashed to get back to T-Mobile and still no T-Mobile Apps or splash screen and it shows model as XAA/XAA/TMB.

And I manually installed the T-Mobile unlock App but get an error when running it "This app is not compatible with this device". So now when the device is eligible for unlock, I won't be able to unless there is a way back to 100% T-Mobile.

maybe try flashing to us cellular or at&t firmware and if the firmware actually fully flashes onto the phone you can try flashing tmobile after and see if you can get back to normal

edit: just want to confirm. you started with official tmobile phone and flashed unlocked canadian and are now stuck there correct?
i'm curious to see if you can start with official at&t firmware, flash canadian, and flash back to at&t but for whatever reason the tmobile phones can't do that

I have tried US Cellular, AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. There are other threads about this in the T-Mobile section also. The Flash completes but it doesn't put the phone back to 100% stock. It stays stuck on XAA/XAA/Whatever carrier you flash. No carrier apps or bloatware.

Is yours an original AT&T? I tried the code on my T-Mobile stuck on XAA firmware but got invalid code error

Correct-- Original T-Mobile to Canada and now stuck. I think I read somewhere where people with ATT version had same problem

I'm ready to do this but until someone can verify an OTA update works without sideloading or you can return to full AT&T stock I'll hold out. The unlocked Samsung US models have a bad record of never getting updates on time if ever.

Does anyone know if the Canadian firmware will OTA upgrade when one comes out? Anyone know a website to check the Canadian firmware and its current version?

I have a att s8+ I bought at best buy. I went to Canadian Rom and now I'm on this one. I miss the caller id but my Samsung pay works on my watch
