It depends. If your custom ROM runs with a stock kernel like tank0412's AOSP 5.0.2, then yes. Otherwise, you can't. What custom ROM are you using right now?

itry to unlock may bootloader using this method but my camera is broked my zenfone 5 model number is TOOJ-D can you fix it ?
This UBL method only attempts to fix ZF5s that FREEZE after UBL. Those with missing cameras, I'm afraid no one's working on them. (Apparently, no one is working on this one, either.)

yes i too feel that. something wrong with temperature.

@ozank, you get 30 hours, but under what kind of usage conditions?

In 5 days of using (Auto Script + Kernel):
-- 1st to 3rd day (June 1-3, 2016) --
Phone is on standby doing nothing (Dual-SIM on) -> NO FREEZES UNTIL BATTERY GOES EMPTY
-- 4th day (June 4, 2016) --
Phone is on standby but is active in the background (Music/WIFI) -> FROZE WITHIN 1 HOUR
Phone is in active use with no/light apps (like browsing settings) -> FROZE WITHIN 10-20 MINUTES
Phone is in active use with heavy apps (games/video) -> FROZE WITHIN 5 MINUTES

But this is interesting:
-- 5th day (June 5, 2016) ---
Phone is on standby and doing nothing (even disabled SIMs) but is charging -> PHONE FREEZES EVERY 5-10 MINUTES

Weird. Something up with the temperature? That's my observation.

Device: ASS-US A500CG
IFWI: 59.1A
Serial: Just 1234567...
ROM: RR build (06/03/2016) v2
Bootload UL Method: @ozank's AUTO-SCRIPT (IFWI 3.87) + Kernel 16.05
same here i too feel its about temprature. whenever i unlock bootloader phone frequently overheats and then got freezed. this only happend while heavy usage. its all about wrong unlocking files which asus used for all models of zenfone 5.

Hello folks!

I think i made it to unlock bootloader without any freezes.
This unlocker provides 6 different method to try.
If none of these work, there's nothing I can do more, sorry (for now...).

There's a latest beta script. I don't know it will freeze or not, go and test it.

First of all I am not responsible if it bricks your device and becomes unusable, so try if you want.

===AUTOMATED QUICK SCRIPT===
I made an automated flasher. Here's a quick explaination:
1 for my freeze patch.
2 for relock bootloader.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6AxuGkWld1yYU5zNGR0SzQ2OXc
It will give you a better result but not the real fix.

===MY CONFIGURATION'S SCRIPT===
Quick explaination:
1 for unlock bootloader
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6AxuGkWld1yMUhpWWd5TWN0ZFk
This is the LATEST testing version.
Probably it won't work. Use Automated Quick.

==========KERNEL==========
Latest version number: 16.05

Important Notes:
Thanks all the XDA Zenfone 5 Community and the friends that I've been talking about. :)
Disable dt2w for the reboots and I recommend using the latest Resurrection Remix by @tank0412, CM is a bit old; so that might do reboots.
Fastboot Archive (WIP): https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B6AxuGkWld1yYVdFZTFLckhaUDQ&usp=drive_web
Ifwi Archive: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6AxuGkWld1yWHV5Rm0yZUd4Q1U
When trying a new fastboot; for the best results you should wipe cache and dalvik cache.
If anyone bricked the phone when doing this, check the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-5/help/zenfone-5-a500cg-zenfone-6-a600cg-t3354645 (Credits to @swiczak )
@kanodiatushar tested and it worked. Thanks.
I searched about camera bugs and when i disable one core of my cpu, camera is not launching (I normally have camera on unlocked bootloader). So, about camera: Some cpu based bug on some devices makes camera bug on custom roms. Make sure you have four of four cores active and available.
Please give a credit to http://ozankaraali.com when sharing if it worked as i did to other users.
As I said, this is experimental and may or may not be working, even maybe it can brick your device and I need feedbacks negative or positive.
Does this fix the camera issue( black screen/no camera found) that is there after unlocking bootloader in some devices?

This is weird. I'm using tank0412's RR ROM (July 6 release). By disabling cores 3 and 4 in Kernel Adiutor, my phone has not frozen for at least 24 hours. The problem with this is that you lose half of your CPU power and the camera becomes unusable.
You're right, I tried the same and it's just as you said. Do you enable the "Apply on boot" option? I guess we can go on using like this but will have to switch back when using camera and playing games...

Indeed. I have "Apply on boot" enabled. And yea, it sucks that we have to knock out one of the cores... Well, that's how it works...
I'm actually gonna try downgrading to kitkat and then using the official tool to see if it helps get rid of the freeze...
Btw, how the heck did you find this fix by disabling cores?? I tried disabling only 1 core and it still froze... What made you try 2?

I remember a post someone made regarding that. I don't know how they came up with it either.

If I could give you a piece of advice, going KitKat and using the official unlocker will not fix the freezing issue. I've tried it thrice. No success whatsoever.
