Hi everyone,
Sorry for the n00b question if this is something that's already been asked & answered somewhere, but I've spent hours trawling the forums, & the web at large, & I'm no closer to solving this issue, & I'm at wit's end - I hope someone will be kind enough to point me in the direction of a fix for this sudden issue.
Yesterday evening, my unmodded Moto G5+ XT1685 (Potter) was attached to my battery pack, as is often the case, just sitting on the table & when I looked down at the screen, I noticed an unfamiliar message was showing:
Bootloader logs
Start Up Failed:
Use the Software Repair Assistant on computer
to repair your device.
Connect your device to your computer to get
the Software Repair Assistant.
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (Secure)
failed to validate boot image
ERROR: Failed to pass validation, backup to fastboot
Fastboot Reason: Fall-through from charger boot mode
USB connected
I have no idea what's gone wrong, but I've tried a number of things to fix it, & haven't made any progress. I've downloaded the drivers from a post I found on here, & have tried the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant, Lenovo Moto Smart Assistant, & Motorola Device Manager, none of which are able to recognise the device because it's not booting into fastboot, I believe. The volume rocker allows me to scroll through a number of different options: 'Switch Tools mode' (where I can toggle 'Tools Mode Config' from ENABLED to DISABLED), 'Qcom', 'BP Tools', 'Barcodes', 'Factory', 'Power off', 'Recovery mode', 'Restart bootloader', & 'Start'. None of them seem to do much, & I just keep ending up at the same screen if/when the device powers up again. I've held the power & volume down buttons for ages, as someone suggested somewhere, but apart from the LED flashing a few times, nothing seemed to happen. I've removed the micro SD & put it back in, but that didn't make any difference. When I select to power it off, it doesn't turn back on when I press the power button, however it'll power back on soon thereafter if connected to a charger or my computer. It's got me flummoxed!
So, any advice? Is it borked? What should I try next? I'd really appreciate your learned opinions.
Cheers!
