"Official" in this context means that it's directly supported by the CM team.
"Unofficial" means that someone downloaded the CM code and is building it on their own.

It takes a good deal of work to get a device onto "official" status, with the main thing of having to have someone constantly maintain it.
(ie you cant just make it fully work and then abandon it, someone's gotta at the very least make sure future builds dont break anything)

Being unofficial means that there's no requirements/commitments, all we really lose at this stage are automatic builds.

What do you mean "who makes"?

The Modem is a Huawei EM820U/W and the drivers might(?) be straight from Huawei, the ril on the other hand.

K, it looks like my light sensor isn't what is allowing the device to boot. I rebased on snargledorf's new build of CM9, fixed the stuff for CM10, and now it won't boot. Turns out that sensor.p3.so and lights.p3.so from ICS-B4 is what getting this to boot. I had this in Alpha v0.1 and Alphav0.2, so now I added them back in, plus some missing wifi stuff and its compiling.

My goal here this morning is to have wifi working, then I can test gapps. Got an hour before I need to head to math class at my college.

back to my build18 and I see what I did.

Also confirmed I can install apps, by pushing them via adb, so that lets me know that internal storage is at least working.

That's exciting. I'm waiting as a tester. I'll do anything that I can but my current knowledge about android is not enough for development of a custom ROM. :D
