I think there are several resources for building an updated kernel... Several tabs use the Tegra2 processor. But the chipsets are not exactly the same. And regardless... We need an experienced kernel Dev to be willing to jump on board.
unable to upgrade from cwm v5.0.2.7
Hey guys.
So I followed twrp "how to install" here: https://twrp.me/devices/dellstreak7.html
I'm able to go into fastboot menu on the s7 but once I try to flash the new twrp or a newer version of cwm for the s7 the commandline spits out "FAILED <command write failed <No such device or address>>"
Maybe it's the drivers? But then how is it possible that I'm able to reboot the device via fastboot?
I'm lost
I'm able to get into cwm recovery v5.0.2.7 which was installed by someone else.
I really want to update to CM10.1 but I don't think it's possible via the old cwm recovery...
Any suggestions? Been searching the forum, but I can't seem to find the answer. thanks

Been awhile but if memory serves I had to go through a bunch of twrps until I found a working one, which 4 me was v2.2.2.1

Also be aware that after 3.2 with I think Streakdroid r8 being the last rom that is fully functional, once you hit the 4's you start losing stuff that is pretty major, like the camera, mobile data, audio etc. all for a rom that I think is pushing the streak capabilities, I've moved up a half dozen times, actually way more than that, and tried every flavor
and always end-up going back to 3.2-R8

@scottfree1 please share a working download link for the R8 build you are referring to. I agree, anything 4+ on the streak is painfully slow and unstable. I'm wanting to go back to honeycomb to see if I can handle a device running no apps that require Android 4.0+. I think I should be able to make do... Just need a good base ROM. Please and thank you
Well since devhost became a spyware attack site I'm not sure where you can download it, here's the link but you can see if you can get anything other than an infection. I expected they would force one of those spyware download managers on you in order to get the download so I added a restore point and let them do their thing and all I got was a nasty infection and no rom, if you find a way to the roms post it, it's to bad in the past they were the best/only source for roms..

Thanks. I just downloaded it fine on my phone... Will transfer to PC later.
I opened up the .zip and immediately notice there is a recovery.IMG there. Then I remembered that partitions were changed up around the times an ICS ROM became available and the partition structure remained different than the HC ones throughout the 4.x.x builds.
I'm not concerned with spyware yada yada. But I do think my streak will have to go back to stock nvflash froyo. Then upgrade to stock HC?
Then try and flash this.... How? Have to find a root and flash different recovery through this process?
When I go to devhost it tries to download "StreakDroid-HD...jse" and my av software immediately quarantines it., not sure what you did diff?

You may want to go back to stock and roll up from there if you have the new part layout, their is a 2.2 back to dead stock I think this is it mainly based on it's size of 1.21gb (I remember the rollback was 2gb unzipped) but the name isn't real helpful so you have to download to be sure.. http://d-h.st/Ksy
I could never quite get the radio right on the 4G, so it was removed. The radio would light up and then crash and it was leading to a battery drain. I had intended to separate it into another project but there was no point, the tablet is dead.

Thanks for this modded image, but does it slow the Streak 7 to a crawl? It takes forever to do anything on my Streak 7 after upgrading. Also, Text-To-Speech doesn't work (in language settings it doesn't work... nor in apps I've developed). Is that also normal?
It's a shame there's nothing more we can do with the Streak. It really is just a paper weight now.

Mine has been officially retired to the bottom of the junk drawer, and it's replacement(s) . 2 Fire 7's 5th gens (less than $50 for both lol) one with a dead usb port, the other with a cracked screen and a hacked/rooted "franken rom " it's right behind it .
