put phone in bootloader mode
flash twrp fastboot flash TWRP-3.2.1-joan-v0.1.img
boot twrp fastboot boot TWRP-3.2.1-joan-v0.1.img
swipe to allow modifications
select WIPE, then FORMAT DATA, then write yes
wipe cache, dalvik, data
flash magisk
flash encyprion disabler
flash root disabler
reboot
This worked for my 10f firmware.
I've now got TWRP and Magisk, appreciate it thank you.

you pull it in TWRP after you got the error
either with adb (adb pull /tmp/recovery.log), or i think TWRP has a button to copy the log too, or you use the inbuilt file explorer of twrp

@SGCMarkus

Ciao.
I hope it is the recovery.log that my requested.
Made with TWRP immediately after launching the BACKUP.
Tell me if that's what you were looking for.

Checked the log, its failing at creating a backup of "system image", is your sdcard formatted in fat32 by chance? doesnt allow files bigger than 4GB, which the system image would be.

Otherwise, just backup boot, recovery, system (not system image), data and cache
thats what i always do

system image is only needed when you wanna flash it via fastboot what i know
a backup of system (not image) can be restored via twrp too and contains everything (just is smaller)

Also im using exfat for my sdcard, even though also proprietary filesystem like ntfs, but still... like it more lol
less problems with linux usually (for me)

* Boot (40MB)
* Recovery (40MB)
* System (4606MB)
* System Image (6394MB)
* Data (excl. storage) (3191MB)
* Cache (1MB)
* EFS (6MB)

Im always going with Boot, Recovery, System, Data and Cache
I have an older backup (also saved to my PC) for the EFS, just in case... but that partition shouldnt ever be touched anyway.

I reverted from 11m to 10f firmware to get TWRP to stick. Now I've got a rooted TWRP'd 10f Nougat. The OTA to 11m showed up a while ago and downloaded (~468MB). When i choose install it unmount sdcard, reboots to TWRP.. When i reboot back to system it get me back to my old 10f.

Not that I'm unhappy with my 10f and root.
Jussayin it wouldn't update anymore. And i did try going from 10f straight to Oreo. Got a nay on refurbish.

Will wait for a stable Aroma Oreo to flash.

So I flashed the recovery image in twrp 3.1.1 to the recovery partition. Got a successful flash dialogue. I'm confused at this point as the twrp version still says 3.1.1? Is that what it should read? Do I need to flash through fastboot recovery instead?
Thanks in advance.
Forgot to say, I'm still on 7.1.2.
