I'm looking to upgrade off of the stock Axon 7 Oreo rom. Out of curiosity do you all have any problems with the following:

1) NFC
2) VoLTE
3) Daydream support?
4) Netflix / youtube paid video support? I've had problems getting access to my stuff on some roms. The Netflix side load has gotten to be annoying.

It's too bad ZTE hasn't ported the German rom over with the daydream fix.

Just did a clean install and then encrypted the phone. Seems to be working!

Btw: I always had problems with the recovery and encryption. The only version i got working is: TWRP Exclusive 3.2.1-8 by NFound

With LOS 15 you could encrypt but twrp could not decrypt (except for that particular version you noted). I am guessing it is still the same.

1. Works without issue.
2. You'll be lucky on a custom rom. Maybe LOS supports it on some providers. Expect nothing.
3. Blur and Judder reduction doesn't work, performance is awful. Its unusable. Stick to stock Nougat for Daydream.
4. You can get around this with magisk spoofing another device which is play store certified but you'll have problems with Netflix only being lower quality because our phone lacks wildvine support. Btw on stock you may also have these problems since the phone doesn't seem to be play store certified any more.

Dual sim data swap seems not working. I have T-Mobile and AT&T; It sees both SIMs , I can call and SMS on both SIMs , however I cant swap data SIM. It locks to one sim and regardless what I tried, it does not switch data sim.
All APNs are set correctly. For Example, it is currently locked to TMobile for data and even after I turn off TMobile SIM, Second sim (ATT) does not pick up data connection.

Any Help here?

Huh. I usually keep my phones for 4 years prior to an upgrade, but issues with the ZTE Axon 7 seem to be cropping up quickly. The two year warranty was great (I used it a few times) however if this is the support we can expect when a device becomes out of date perhaps I need to not consider ZTE for a replacement device. Especially when they fixed Daydream in Oreo, but only in the German rom...

Thank you Dodgexander for your feedback!

Anybody use microG on this ROM? I was thinking about replacing GPS with microG but I'm not sure if LOS 16 has signature spoofing.
@jiggumbob, no, LOS 16 doesn't have signature spoofing. You would have to patch the ROM first. Could probably try NanoDroid Patcher or some other tool like SmaliPatcher.

Check here...

Thanks for a suggestion, but I have unlimited data on both cards.
So for me it does not matter which one goes in slot 1 as long as I can switch between them when I need to (due to coverage) as I was able to do in Stock rom.

Yeah, they fixed daydream for the g variant but they fixed it in the kernel and haven't shared how.. So basically on custom or even stock Oreo on the U it won't work well.

It's been clear with this phone that there's always been software problems, you could I guess blame a lot of that on recent politics.

In ZTEs defence there's manufacturers who are a lot worse in this respect!

I have seen that runninghamster0 has rebased the kernel. In the new kernel source the patches until ASB 2020-08 seem to be included. Therefore I have compled the most recent build using his kernel.

I also swapped the soft buttons that no 3rd party app is needed to have the soft keys as
If you don't like, you could just use the patch from @raystef66.

Thank you so much for keeping this alive, and patched. I've just come from RR and couldn't be happier. Cheers
Exactly the same. Recently migrated over from RR a few days ago and it's been running nicely.

Sorry for the inconvenience, didn't notes that LineageOS pushed the new CAF display, media and audio HALs to github. Since our display/media blobs are still based on an Oreo CAF tag, these cause issues with newer P CAF HALs. Next build scheduled for today.
