Sounds like a hardware issue to me. The A5 is almost identical and the volume keys work fine on my test device.

Kind regards,
Danny
Hello dear Danny
I re-checked the volume up and down keys, it was a hardware problem and now it is fixed
Probably due to moisture or the use of alcohol for disinfection
I knew it was my duty to inform

Appreciate your efforts,
Mehdi from Iran

Another small update, should give more stable and better ZRAM compression:

Changes 28-08-2021:
  • Updated ZRAM implementation from Linux 4.1.52
  • Switched to LZ4 ZRAM compression (should be faster and better)
Hi! Thank You for continuing to work on a3 2016.
It's very interesting statement that zram is better than vnswap.
I did replacing vnswap with zram on another Samsung device and did not notice the difference: android_kernel_samsung_exynos7870
Maybe it’s because I didn’t do accurate tests.

I have minor notes for zram updating:

1. Need disable vnswap and zswap in config (see my commit: arm64: config: use zram instead zswap)
2. I think need apply next patches taken from Linux 3.15:
- UPSTREAM: zram: pass gfp from zcomp frontend to backend
- UPSTREAM: zram/zcomp: do not zero out zcomp private pages
- zram: cut trailing newline in algorithm name
- zram: check comp algorithm availability earlier
- BACKPORT: zsmalloc: require GFP in zs_malloc()
- UPSTREAM: zram: user per-cpu compression streams

Good luck!

Hi Alex,

Good to see you here, it's been a while!

I think part of the slow down with vnswap/sswap was caused by Samsungs user space driver doing something weird. The system is a lot better now under heavy RAM usage. Users on the j7elte were reporting lots of slow downs and UI crashes under heavy RAM usage which was solved after the switch to the updated ZRAM. The A5 seems a bit quicker to unlock with the fingerprint too, but it's difficult to say if that is just in my head :D

Thanks for the tips, I will look at pulling those patches in. The numbers in the "per-cpu" commit look promising (if reproducible on these devices).

Kind regards,
Danny

Quite possibly because I also ran into this issue with vnswap, but this was extremely rare.
I even ported the vbswap driver by @arter97 so that zswap works better on A3 2016 with low RAM.

Those patches I suggested are suitable for Linux 3.10 kernel without backporting.

Hi,

Thank you for keep updating.

I installed this rom 2 days ago on my father's a310, luckily the last update was released the day after. How can I install the update without losing any data?

Also, today, multi task switch key (the left one of the home button) was not responding, restarting fixed it. If it happens again, how should I report the problem?

Regards

Just flash the new version without wiping anything and it will update.

Was the back button still working?

Kind regards,
Danny

Hi
I installed v20210827 and everything works fine.
But when I download a file to the memory card with a download manager (adm, idm+, etc.) the phone restarts.
I tried another memory card, but the problem persisted.

That is strange. Maybe a hardware issue? Was the recents button lighting up when you passed it?

Regards,
Danny
Yes, the lights were on.

Maybe it's a hardware issue as you said. Since this is the first time I've installed a custom rom and that problem was the first time, I thought it might be software related. I will report here if it happens again.

Thanks

Привет
Я установил v20210827 и все работает нормально.
Но при загрузке файла на карту памяти менеджером закачек (adm, idm + и др.) Телефон перезагружается.
Я попробовал другую карту памяти, но проблема не исчезла.

Greetings! I totally agree. I have had this problem since the update from 28-08-2021. Device A5. It was because of these accidental reboots of the smartphone that I rolled back to Lineage 17.1, although the 18.1 version works better.

Hi!! Everything in LOS 18 running really fine!! Only one problem, with Vanced Music, because it doesn't run. I have installed Vanced Manager Root, and Youtube Vanced and Youtube Music Vanced. Youtube Vanced runs fine, but I can't open Music Vanced.

Thanks a lot!!

I have a fix for this issue in my current tree. I was missing a patch for the sdfat driver.

I will generate a new set of builds later.

Kind regards,
Danny

    Introduction

LineageOS 18.1 is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 11.0, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device. The port for the Exynos7580 based devices was created by @Stricted and I along with many contributions from other people in the Android community.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

This is a combined thread for the A series Exynos7580 based devices.

    What works
    Everything
    What doesn't work
IMS services (VoLTE, VoWiFi, etc). Samsung has their own proprietary implementation. It is not really possible to easily port that to LineageOS.

Any issues will be ignored if you do not provide:
    a) Logcat
    b) /proc/last_kmsg
    c) LineageOS bug report
    d) dmesg

Also do not under any circumstances post bug reports if you are using substratum themes or unsupported magisk modules or you have performed any system modifications

    Installation

    • Install the latest TWRP for your device
    • Make a full backup (just in case something goes wrong)
    • Do a full wipe (Cache, Data, System)
    • If this is your first time on a LineageOS ROM format data, you also need to have been running your latest stock OS version
    • Flash the latest LineageOS 18.1
    • Opengapps
    • (Magisk if required)
    • Do NOT install the TWRP app if prompted, this will most likely cause a bootloop
    Upgrade from official 17.1
    • Make a full backup
    • Flash in this order:
    • LineageOS-18.1
    • OpenGapps 11
    • (Magisk if required)
    • And then this migration zip available HERE
    Downloads
    Latest unofficial releases HERE
    OpenGapps HERE
    TWRP is available HERE
    Magisk is available HERE

Sorry for my ignorance, could you tell a brief changelog - what are the main differences between Android 10 (LineageOS 17) and Android 11 (LineageOS 18) please?

Any major changes that break app compatibility?
    Hi,

A search on XDA reveals this write up:

On top of this we have a lot of fixes for our devices from security to ram management. The list is too long, if you are interested take a look at the device trees and kernel source on GitHub.

With regards to app compatibility, Android 11 has been out for nearly a year now. If an app you use isn't compatible then to be honest it isn't worth using.

    Kind regards,
    Danny
