I was not sure about the compatibility to the mi 9t. There could be some differences between the K20 and the mi 9t.
It seems that the kernel for the K20 & mi 9t is the same. See here.
But some users say it is compatible:
Yes, you must only set the English language
Hello, yes, I am using the Mi 9T.

No, you have to flash the recovery.img, the one you don't need to flash is the misc.bin.

misc.bin only make your phone boot to TWRP, but you can do it with command or the buttons.

I really want to know that too.

Did you flashed just the .img file or also a misc image?

You can flash it or not, the only thing it does is to make your phone boot to TWRP.

But you can do it writing: fastboot boot recovery.img

Or you can do it with the buttons: power + volume+

@Schnedi so you are running a mi 9t?

You unlock your mi 9t bootloader and you just booting into fastboot and boot the twrp recovery instead of flash it?
Why not flashing it?

Just adding the original source: http://www.miui.com/thread-24769909-1-1.html
LR.Team/wzsx150 are known to publish very usable TWRP builds almost immediately after the release of devices.

    Can anyone confirm this:

"If you had chosen to reboot into system, you will lose TWRP recovery because official ROMs restore to official recovery."

How can i manage to boot in twrp after flash it successfully?

I unlock bootloader, then i set up system again ( as when you unlock bootloader, phone is factory reset ) just to access developer option, turn on usb debugging. On terminal ( as i use OSX) i check if phone is recognize by typing ./adb devices, if all is ok, i type ./adb reboot bootloader . Then phone restart in fastboot mod.
then when i fastboot on terminal i write ./fastboot flash recovery recovery.img when it is done, and success. i just push together power om/of button and vol+ until phone restart, then i release finger from power button and keep just vol+ until i enter flashed TWRP recovery.
then in twrp i do wipe data, then from twrp i restart to recovery and then i transfer firmware.zip to internal memory of phone, then in twrp i install firmware. then restart to system, setup it and then install magisk.
that is all, phone always restart to twrp recovery,

only if you flash fatboot rom then it will be again stock recovery, but you have to install twrp again and all is ok.

    Magisk 19.4 works perfectly.
