I use MIUI 14 eea ( V14.0.6.0.TKOEUXM). No problem with this twrp. The only problem is that I can't restore the backup (I'm sure it will fix itself).

I use miui 14.06 (xiaomi.eu) rom, it's an hibrid rom (a very good rom). If you change rom (if it's not an update) do a clean install: or a clean fastboot installation or with TWRP you first format data.

I assume you have unlocked bootloader.
Go to the site of Xiaomi.eu, Miui 14 stable:

In the first post you will read the how-to install the rom for first time (through fastboot first install bat). This will install either the rom either TWRP (first release so you will have to update it to detect sd-card). You will loose all your data even in internal memory, so backup!!!
Download TWRP zip in the internal memory because the first version of TWRP didn't detect ext sd-card. Reboot in recovery and update TWRP to last version simply flashing it. You have done. From now on you will use TWRP to update rom, to root, to backup and restore your phone, everything works perfectly.

I think that it would be a good idea that everyone has used this TWRP post here his current version of miui, eventually his experience with backup and restore. It's impossible to conclude with a single case.
