Yhu can try but bootloader must ne unlock to flash twrp...
To enter download mode, switch of the phone, connect usb to phone, press volume down button and connect tha usb to PC, it will enter download mode. Den flash twrp!!!
I know how to flash the phone. I said that I`m using 7.1.1 FW but TWRP is 8.1 boot based. May be you meant to flash this TWRP, make backup and then flash the native boot back to make the phone bootable as usual? There is some reason here. I`ll try. Thanks.
Yes man since yhu are not booting up the device... Just make sure yhu have original boot.img!
I have a boot.img which has twrp inside also the wifi driver is working. If you dare to flash it as your boot partition in fastboot then ask, its 50.2Mb

One caution :
Don't change slot using TWRP. It will Brick your device - which is yet to resolve. And my Nokia 8 is gone now

This time not only root, u are gonna get custom kernel with few CPU governor and IO Scheduler with fully working TWRP with decryption support. So, you can take nanodroid backup or can flash anything - even custom ROM5

Flash TWRP img, then re-root using Magisk method provided in the URL.
Created another version of TWRP. Now /data is browsable, but showing garbled file names So, nanodroid is still unachievable. Don't have a backup phone, so could not take the risk of loosing my data, else could have un-encrypt ICE filesystem encryption and could have build a stock based ROM without encrypted partition.
