Can anyone with broken device use parted method described here http://ananthgs4geeks.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/s2-soft-brick-bug-fix-mmccaperase-brick.html

Do make sure to delete only the mmcblk023 (data) and recreate it.
Well, I followed those steps but could not continue farther because it kept on spitting out error: cant have overlapping partitions so I followed this guide http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.ca/2013/10/fix-data-htc-one.html and now my phone sometimes mount system it mounts cache but never data.

@shantur Do you know if the "rm -rf instead of formatting" option of TWRP can be considered save? I think this should prevent the device from being bricked.?

Thanks!

I got the same problem, /data partition can't mount sometimes and roms usually can't flash.
One time I got it to reach the rom's bootscreen, but it hang there.

Have any fixes for this appeared since September last year?

I'm looking to bring my sensation back to life and gift it to my nephew.

Are there any news?
I'm facing the same problem.
Tried to format the partition mmcblk0p23 using mkfs.ext4, but it hangs at the info-line.

Why isn't it possible to restore the partition?

If you really want to go deep search for QHSUSB QPST BrixFix to find how to use them.
You can find all the tools here https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B8IBb66EDFdRSkh0cUNPa05wdm8&usp=sharing
Dont ask me how to use them. I have never tried.
With these things you might be able to restore your phone.
I can try to make it work if someone with broken data can send me the phone in London.

or the easy option is buy an bigger and faster SDCard and mount the data in sdcard. I am using this method for Lollipop as data requirements are bigger than partition.
For how to do this check for the SD Card mod thread.

Thanks a lot. I don't think the QHSUSB works here. This only fixes the bootloader as far as I could see. But the bootloader is fine.
I also tried the SD-EXT MOD (I think you mean this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-sensation/development/mod-sd-ext-boot-mod-cm12-t3068867). But with all mods except the first one, TWRP crashes while "Installing kernel". The first MOD runs through, but at the end, when it says "Updating partitions", that it is still unable to mount data.

To send you the phone and to send it back costs around 30€ and I don't think you will work for free... I'm not sure if this is worth it... Do you think there is a chance you can fix it?
As far as my understanding goes, there are corrupt blocks on the data partition, created by a bug in the emmc-controller, which was triggered by TWRP. Are those blocks really defect now, or does only the filesystem think they are defect?

Have you tried flashing 4ext recovery on there then creating a new partition table using 4ext?
Afterwards you can flash twrp and convert the partitions to f2fs and install Lollipop.

Lots of notes on twrp not working well with creating partitions.

Hi, thanks for the hint. I just tried using the SD-EXT Mod with 4EXT-Recovery - same problem 4EXT crashes on "Installing kernel". The first MOD from the page succeeded, but still unable to mount data, sadly :(

Any further ideas?

If your using my mod then only the first one will work for you if your internal data is corrupt.
As far as I know you will need to be s-off, otherwise use delta-roh's mod to edit the boot.img
If your not sure send me your boot.img and I'll edit it for you.
You must have a second primary partition on your sdcard.
The twrp error about updating partitions should be able to be ignored but I have edited TWRP so it will read your second partition on your sdcard (sd-ext) for data instead of internal data. I haven't tested this myself though but should work. You still need to modify the ROM's boot.img too.
TWRP-2.8.6.0-pyramid-f2fs-r3(Modified-1).img
If your still having issues, it maybe because system partition is possibly corrupt too as I'm sure I've read about others having both gone bad. If so further modification is needed.

Hi,
this looks very promising! I have formatted the SD-Card using 4EXT with two partitions + swap. So this should be alright.
Now, there are no errors anymore, when your Mod updates the partition details! Thanks a thousand times.
Also the flashing of ivanichs 12.1 (from 18.04) is done without errors now. But after a reboot, it only proceeds to the HTC logo.

How can I update the boot.img? Can you explain how to do it on my own?

Tomorrow, I will give my OnePlus One to the RMA - Actually I have put up with having no smartphone for some weeks, but maybe there is really a chance to revive the Sensation. Else I will go absolutely retro with an Nokia 6150:laugh:

My mod edits the boot.img for you but it mounts internal data too, so that's probably why it only made it to the HTC logo.
Just flash ROM again and then Mod linked below.
BOOT-MOD-1.1(Modified-1).zip

To edit ramdisk yourself in the boot.img you can to it with windows with this Mod or if using Linux, use the ramdisk-tools and commands I attached to this post.

Oh it's working. Thank you so much. First I tried CM12.1 but the WIFI couldn't be turned on. I was scared I might have broken other partitions, but with CM11 the WIFI works normally.
I'm very happy right now. Thank you again for all your help!
