Unreliable notifications on wifi

Hi,
I experience a strange problem on my S8. When I am at home and my phone is on wifi, some notification comes sometimes, but the phone is "quiet", more or less. But in that case, if I go somewhere and change from wifi to LTE, I instantly get a bunch of notifications in a few seconds. There is no problem with my wifi, both browsing and youtube work fine on it. It seems to me like a battery saver feature that stops sync while locked but I don't understand why is it different on cellular.
Anyway, it is a European Exynos version with the latest official build.
Any idea guys?

Thanks for your tip!
Unfortunately, I couldn't find any setting that would force the phone to stay connected. Neither in connection section, nor in advanced settings.
But I experienced that I get instantly a ton of notifications in that case too, if I turn off the VPN I am using for adblock purpose (Adguard). It's a local VPN, if you don't know it, and there is not any setting in the app related to my problem.
Do you use any kind of VPN, anyway?
