I've been on B538 for a few days but I'm now back on B555 with mobile apps.
No matter which ROM I use, the battery life is the same.
I need a new battery but not from 2016 but newer. Preferably from 2020.
On Aliexpress it is described as being from the year 19 or 20 but I got one from 2016.
No idea where to get a good original battery with a newer date.
Do you maybe know where to get a good one, you're from China right?
I live in China. I had a Xiaomi Max back in the day and I used to charge it to 100% all the time. The end result was that it needed a new battery after 1-2 years. There were only fakes. No matter how good the seller reviews were or how good/original the batteries looked, they're all third party made to look like originals. Maybe you can find a good quality third party battery if you choose the MOST popular seller that sells expensive third party batteries (own brand). I remember a brand called Nohon being one of those. 诺希 I believe. (It was a long time ago. Hard to remember.)
I never got one of those. I got one of the newer dated original looking batteries. In fact I got two of them from different sellers with good reviews. They were both pretty ****ty. None of them provided more charge than the battery I was trying to replace.
I think I never really solved it, or I solved it by buying an original used battery. Many original batteries that come from phones sold for parts "拆机" (opened device) don't have that many cycles on them.
Few cycles and 6 years old is FINE. It's better than a 3y old with 500 cycles. A 2016 with 100 cycles is MUCH better than a 2017 with 400 cycles. Not every phone owner is a power user like you and me. There might be few cycles on mamy of them.
Fakes are unlikely to provide any more capacity than old originals.
So I specifically look for USED batteries with OLD dates on the packs. 2016 or 2017. No seller would print 2017 on a battery if they try to sell a fake in 2023, right? That means it's likely original. Hopefully it's got few cycles on it.
That's what I would do if I were you. If it says "new" then don't buy it.
Either that or try an expensive Nohon pack or something. And of course after changing, NEVER charge past 4.200v. That way you will NEVER EVER need to replace that battery.
Good luck!
PS. I buy all my stuff on Xianyu 闲鱼 which is like taobao but for used stuff, and no fees for sellers. However it's not open for international sales. If I lived abroad and I couldn't find the product I'm looking for on Aliexpress, I would look for a seller that seems small but relatively reputable. Hopefully specializing in some used items in their catalog. Then I'd ask them for used original batteries. Even if they don't specifically sell Honor Note 8. Maybe they have used original Mate 8 batteries. Perfect. Ask that seller to have a look and check with their supplier. Buy two and test both, one will work better than the other.
