Update and keep root

I don't have TWRP installed and I have an update for magisk... Can some one tell me the process of updating the magisk please

Hi my fellow rog 2 friends.

Just want to tell you how you update ur WW Rog 2 and keep root.

1. Be rooted (unlocked bootloader + magisk) and have ur device on a WW Fingerprint. (CN Device or WW Device)
2. Download the newest full.zip(19.08WW) update to the root of your phone and reboot
3. After the reboot u get asked if you want to update press yes and wait til 100%
4. When u get to 100% dont restart! Press on later and open Magisk Manager
5. Press Install and choose "install on inactive slot (ota)
6. Wait til its done and reboot over magisk.

Tadaaaa, you update the rom and keeped root.

Have fun.

(Should work on CN devices on CN Rom as well)

Worked for me

Following instructions in OP worked perfect for me.

I was going from previous official ASUS release, Version WW-16.0631.1910.64 to latest official release on ASUS website 17.0210.2001.60-1.1.97. Had unlocked bootloader and patched boot.img. Followed instructions, booted back up and worked flawlessly.

Can you do this if you already upgraded to Android 10 and have the patched image installed for the A10 release (March 2020 release) and are rooted?

I mean it won't let me re-install the A10 release. But can I install Magisk to other area with the patched image and keep root or do I need to wait for the next WW release?

Hello folks, please....

Have Android 10 build (official) with twrp and magisk 20.3. Today i wanted to update it on 20.4 and i did this:

5. Press Install and choose "install on inactive slot (ota)
6. Wait til its done and reboot over magisk.

My phone restarted twice and i am in TWRP, it doesn't allow me to restart to system. I wanted to try wipe Dalvik / ART Cache but i when i try it says - "Unable to mount storage"

What can i do to fix this? I don't wanna wipe complete phone (have there tons of pictures which i need to keep)... When i try to connect it via usb to PC, it's not working

I need to get my data back, it's the most important for me

So now i would like to ask did u update magisk on the latest one 20.4 via OTA with Android 10?

Yup i have been told that not using Install to Inactive Slot (After OTA), but use Direct Install which i didn't know. My bad, next time i will know

Install on slot option should be used BEFORE Restarting the device AFTER youve downloaded and installed the SOFTWARE of the phone.
Not the magisk version mate
